A flurry of pink fur and scales wakes me up.
"Oh, Lady Reii! Kishiko just told me you performed a spell- Oh, that's simply amazing!"
I cough, then try to sit up through the violent dance that the dragon is now doing.
"Petal- What the heck-?" I choke out, but I'm grinning. Hey, being praised feels great! Especially when I remember yesterday morning I couldn't even make the wand work at all.
"I told you she was talented," Kishiko says from the doorway. "See Petal? Not everything is set in stone. Reii's success yesterday is a lot because of her own spell, and her own development. Magic isn't a book, y'know? It's not fixed."
"Ah- Yes, of course," Petal looks somewhat embarrassed.
"Hey! You guys coming to breakfast or not?" Akari pokes her head in, and then laughs as all our heads whip around in sync. "C'mon, Yuki says it's ice-cream or something."
"Coming!" Kishiko instantly says, racing after her. "Hey- wait up!"
Petal shakes his head and detaches himself from my blanket. "Those girls. They're going to eat themselves sick if I don't get there." He sighs. "Teenagers are still teenagers..."
He flies after them. "Kishiko! Don't run, you'll break something!"
I'm left alone in my room. I take the silence to just sit and detangle my thoughts for a moment.
...The girls here are so supportive. I'd probably still not be able to cast a spell right now if it wasn't for Kishiko, and I might've tried to run off already if Akari hadn't intervened. Even Petal, strict, old-fashioned Petal, I believe has my best interests at heart.
From what I've seen of them so far, they're one hundred percent better than anyone at school.
A small knot of dread forms in my stomach suddenly. Wait, school. I cant stay here forever. I'm going to have to go back to school eventually. And I think i heard Meira mention something about that...
Whatever, I wont worry about it just now. Not when there's ice cream to be eaten.
I make my way to the dining room, where there's a general clamor inside. When I poke my head in, I burst out laughing at what I see.
Kishiko is holding a tub of chocolate ice cream, and eating straight out of it with a spoon. Akari buzzes up and down from sugar rush, Lumi and Meira are playing a game that seems to be about stacking as many scoops on one cone as humanly possible, and Yuki is sullenly eating a bowl of cereal in the corner. She sees me and writes 'Allergies' in the air with a glowing fingertip.
Oof. Poor Yuki.
Petal is flying around in the midst of all the chaos, trying to calm everyone down, but it's no use. Meira's tower topples over and splatters all over the floor. He face plants and motions for me to come in. I grab a cone myself and put a scoop of vanilla on it.
"So... What's going on?" I say innocently. A little too innocently, as Petal gives me a suspicious look. I hide the tub of vanilla ice cream behind my back.
"Oh, it's chaos. I'll be glad when you all go back to school tomorrow..." He grumbles.
I nearly drop my ice cream. "What? School? Tomorrow? " I gasp.
"Well, yes, you cant all stay here forever. And besides, you need a good education."
I don't answer.
Just as I was getting used to HQ, reality hits. I have to go back to school. Oh no.
...
How will I survive?
