AFTER DISCOVERING SAM AND COLBY WERE STAYING IN THE SAME HOTEL AS MATILDA AND TAYLOR, the Swift's invited them to hang out in their room.
Matilda sat on the floor with the boys making friendship bracelets while Taylor watched Grey's Anatomy.
"Sam, that's a good one!" Matilda smiled at the 'I died dead' bracelet Sam was making. "And it's an iconic moment, good idea!"
Taylor smiled as she watched the three, laughing and comparing ideas. They looked like teenagers, laughing about something only they understood. It warmed her heart watching it.
"Ooh, I forgot about the popcorn!" Matilda yelled, jumping up and running to where the microwave was. She pulled a bag of hot popcorn out and offered some to her Taylor, who shook her head. Then, Matilda flopped onto the floor and they dug in.
"Mmm, this is good," Colby grinned, throwing them up and catching them. "Best tasting popcorn I've had."
"That's because we're the best," Matilda teased. "Wanna sit on the balcony?"
So they moved to the balcony, where they could see the stars. For a moment Sam was starstruck. Matilda's hair was loose and blowing lightly in the wind, and her eyes seemed brighter as she looked to the sky.
But there was some sadness with her, like it was radiating off her. Colby was distracted so Sam scooted over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Tilly?"
Matilda hummed, turning her head to face him.
"What's wrong?"
She sighed and looked down to her hands. "It's stupid, but...there's been ten articles since someone posted a picture of us together, and my post with you in it. Ten. And nine of them are ripping into me, saying stuff."
Sam's heart ached. She didn't deserve that, she was trying to live her life and have fun. "Like what?"
"How I'm attention-seeking, trying to gain clout. Stuff I usually get, but having news articles say it about you? It's worse."
Sam took her hand in his. "I have an idea."
"Mm, and what's this idea."
"You come back to Vegas with us. Delete social media for a week, relax, spend time with us and our friends."
