Nico's POV:
Nico knew how Percy felt. Watching a loved one get ready for a death quest. Nico could only walk the halls, showing Jason around the giant obsidian palace, the artificial light filtering through the windows and sometimes non-existent walls. They passed giant gardens and ballrooms here and there, the ghosts of the past floating down stairwells or the halls. Nico had concluded that if Hades were a mortal, he'd be the CEO of some financial company. Or maybe he was. Didn't he give him a black card already?
He'd watch as Jason would run a hand along the wall, tensing up as a ghost passed. The poor Roman boy wasn't used to the underworld. After a bit of walking Nico turned down a hall, Jason following him.
"You can stay in my wing or something. Not like I use it much anymore." Nico said blankly.
"Thanks, Nico. I mean it- spending time with me before I go on whatever your father wants me to."
"Jason, you're like a brother to me. I'm not going to say it twice." The ravenette turns his head away from the taller blond, his curly bangs hanging over his eyes. Why did it have to be Jason to die? I mean, he had nothing against Piper, but couldn't she have died? Not Jason?
"You are too. I'd do anything for you," Jason would set a calloused hand on the younger male's shoulder. "Anything, man." Nico hated how caring he was.
"Just... be careful, okay? Don't die again. If you do I'll raise your ghost and torment-"
"Nico I'll be fine, I promise." Jason would step into the room Nico used to sleep in, squeezing him before closing the door. Maybe Jason wanted to be alone before his death quest. Nico would sigh, walking back to the throne room where Hades sat.
"Father. Why is Jason alive? I want a real answer- please."
Hades shook his head, looking at his son over some paperwork. "I'm afraid I cannot tell you that. I'm sure Miss Dare will be the one telling everyone the prophecy." He sets the paperwork down on the side table beside him. "You should get going now, my child."
"But-"
"Go, Nico. Your friends are awaiting you." The god said firmly. Nico would sigh heavily, stepping into one of the many shadowy areas of the palace, shadow traveling back to camp. He arrived back in Cabin 13, coughing and holding his side. Will was waiting for him, perking up from his place on Nico's bunk. He would jog over, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend.
"I told you that you shouldn't use your powers, amor."
"I'm fine, Tesoro."
"No, you aren't. I can tell." Will frowns. Nico hated it when Will frowned. Will helped Nico to his bunk, sitting him down, and running a hand through the ravenette's curly hair. Nico cursed softly in Italian, a hand going back to his side. Curse his stupid powers. "Come on, let's get you some rest..." The blond said softly.
"I can't- not yet," Nico responded dryly. He had to be awake for when Rachel gave the prophecy. He had to know what Jason was going to go through- or at least have a vague idea.
"Nico, please. You're already sleep-deprived enough! Doctor's orders!' Will pushed him down into the sheets. Nico let out a tired scoff, his left arm over his side, his right splayed out next to him on the pillow, falling off the mattress. "Sleep. I'll wake you up if anything happens. I doubt anything will, tonight." The son of Apollo shook his head, standing, stretching out his arms.
"Not even a goodnight kiss?" Nico arched a brow, a small grin on his pale face. Will laughed- a heavenly sound to the son of Hades.
"Oh, how could I ever forget?" He remarked, stepping back over to the bunk, leaning down, and kissing the younger male's nose. "G'night, love." His accent was barely audible, but if you knew how Texans were, you could hear it.
That night Nico had a dream. Or a nightmare. He could never tell. This time, he was back at the place he hated the most- The Lotus Casino. It was like he was observing his past- just walking around, passing through people. He'd see Bianca first, then himself, and finally her. He'd only watch as a miniature version of himself played Mythomagic with her, laughing and giggling as if there were not a care in the world.
"I play Cerberus, 35 attack points!" She would say. Ironic. She loved Cerberus- just not any other kind of hound.
"Nooo! My minotaur!" The miniature Nico would fake frown before breaking out in a fit of laughter. She would soon follow after. Bianca was sat next to them, shuffling a deck over and over. Her brother loved Mythomagic.
It was a good dream up until it twisted with dark shadows, whisps of darkness trying to grab at her. Whispers echoed aroun him. He tried to reach out, tried to help her. His hands only passed through. He could only watch as the dream turned sour, miniature him and Bianca disappearing into dust. She reached out for him before the shadows engulfed her.
He woke up with a start, beads of sweat rolling down his brow. Why was he only dreaming about her now? Why was he dreaming about his first be?
BANG!
"Nico! Will! Rachel is giving another prophecy!" Hazel had burst into the cabin, her face filled with panic. Nico knew this was coming either way. He and Will rushed outside to where Rachel was being held up by Piper.
"-Broken then remade, Son of Jupiter, a resurrection so fade. Daughter of the sea, a curse she bears,-"
Rachel had green smoke around her, falling out of her mouth and from her hands, her eyes glowing green. She doubled over, crumpling against Piper, unconscious. That couldn't be the only part of the prophecy- there had to be more. The crowd that had gathered was whispering and murmuring amongst themselves. Percy burst through, hands on his knees, breathing heavily.
"Daughter of sea...?" He said, looking up with a face painted of panic. What did that mean? Nico knew.
She was alive.
