Jimin’s thoughts swirled in a chaotic dance as he drove home that night

Jimin’s thoughts swirled in a chaotic dance as he drove home that night. The city lights blurred past him, but all he could focus on was YN—the way she spoke, the way she effortlessly understood him. The feeling was intoxicating and dangerous, especially considering his marriage to Hyuna. He knew this was a line he shouldn’t cross, but it was becoming harder to ignore the pull he felt toward her.

When he arrived home, the house was eerily silent. Hyuna wasn’t there, as usual, off at some event or with friends, always keeping her distance. Their relationship was practically non-existent, a hollow shell of what was supposed to be a marriage.

Jimin slumped onto the couch, running a hand through his hair. He grabbed his phone and hesitated before sending a quick text to Taehyung.

Jimin: Thanks for inviting me tonight. It was nice to see everyone.

Taehyung’s reply was almost instant.

Taehyung: Glad you came, man. YN seemed to enjoy your company, too.

Jimin stared at the screen, his heartbeat quickening. There was something about Taehyung’s words that unsettled him. Did Taehyung know? Could he sense the shift happening between Jimin and YN?

Pushing the thoughts aside, Jimin turned off his phone and tried to sleep, but it was a restless night.

The next day, Jimin was at his office, trying to focus on work when his phone buzzed with a message from YN. His heart leaped, but he quickly composed himself before opening it.

YN: Morning! I was wondering if you’d like to grab lunch today. I’m free around noon.

Jimin stared at the message for a few seconds, weighing his options. He knew he shouldn’t, but the temptation was too strong. His fingers moved on their own as he typed back.

Jimin: Sounds good. I’ll meet you at that café near your hospital.

When Jimin arrived at the café, YN was already seated at a small table by the window, looking effortlessly chic in a simple blouse and jeans. She smiled when she saw him, and Jimin felt the familiar tug in his chest.

“Right on time,” YN said as he sat down.

“I try,” Jimin replied with a grin.

They ordered their food and quickly fell into easy conversation, discussing everything from work to random topics. But as the meal went on, there was an underlying tension between them—an unspoken connection that both of them were aware of but neither wanted to address directly.

At one point, YN leaned in slightly, her eyes locking onto Jimin’s. “So, tell me… what’s really going on with you, Jimin?”

Jimin blinked, caught off guard. “What do you mean?”

“You seem… distracted. Like there’s something on your mind you’re not saying,” YN observed, her tone soft but piercing.

Jimin hesitated. He couldn’t lie to her not when she was looking at him like that, with an intensity that made his heart race. He exhaled, running a hand through his hair.

“It’s complicated,” he said finally. “My marriage with Hyuna… it’s not what I thought it would be. It feels more like a business arrangement than anything else.”

YN’s expression softened. “That must be hard. Being tied to someone when your heart isn’t in it.”

Jimin nodded, feeling a weight lift just by admitting it out loud. “Yeah… and sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice.”

YN’s eyes lingered on his, her gaze unreadable. “It’s never too late to make a different choice.”

Her words hung in the air, and Jimin felt his pulse quicken. Was she talking about his marriage or something else?

Before he could respond, YN’s phone buzzed, pulling her attention away. She glanced at the screen and sighed. “I have to head back to the hospital. Duty calls.”

Jimin nodded, standing up with her. “Thanks for lunch, YN. It was… nice.”

YN smiled, though there was something unsaid in her eyes. “Anytime, Jimin.”

As she walked out of the café, Jimin watched her go, his mind racing. This was dangerous territory, and he knew it. But something about YN drew him in, and despite everything, he couldn’t help but want more.

Back at the hospital, YN moved through her day with a focused efficiency, but her mind kept drifting back to Jimin. She wasn’t naive—she knew exactly what was happening between them. The connection was undeniable, and she could feel the tension every time they were together.

But it was complicated. Jimin was married, and despite his complaints about the relationship, YN wasn’t the type to get involved in something messy. Still, there was a pull she couldn’t ignore, a magnetic force drawing them together.

As she finished her last surgery of the day, YN checked her phone again, hoping for a message from Jimin. When none came, she sighed, brushing the thought away. She needed to stay focused. Whatever this thing was between them, it couldn’t go too far—at least not yet.

That evening, Jimin returned home to find Hyuna sitting in the living room, scrolling through her phone. It was one of the rare moments they were in the same space together.

“Hey,” Jimin greeted, keeping his tone neutral.

Hyuna glanced up, barely acknowledging him. “Hey.”

He sat down across from her, feeling the thick tension in the air. This was their normal—cold, distant, barely exchanging more than a few words. The spark between them had never existed, and now they were just two strangers sharing a house.

Jimin considered saying something, anything, to bridge the gap between them. But instead, he remained silent, his mind drifting back to YN.

As the silence stretched on, he realized that he couldn’t keep living like this. Something had to change, and deep down, he knew that YN was at the center of that shift.
