Gone

Once [Name] was nursed back to health, Tanjiro wasn't at his highest. As he carried [Name] on his back, despite the amount of incessant protesting, he contemplated his words. So [Name] had been using a completely different blade all along. And a hashira's one at that. But the real question was, how did they come to attain it? Tanjiro stopped walking, and instead spoke to [Name].

"Why would you keep a secret like that?" Tanjiro asked, the hurt evident in his shaky voice.

But [Name]'s response shook his heart, as no sympathy was heard in their voice, "Because I didn't need to. A blade is a blade."

"No it's not! That's a hashira's blade that you've been wielding all this time," Tanjiro retorted, continuing to move up the mountain, "How long have you had it for?"

"Since we had the...," [Name] muttered, before the rest of their sentence dissipated into the breeze.

"Speak up," Tanjiro spoke, trying to be as nice as he could.

"Fine. I've had it since Urokodaki left us to cut the boulders," [Name] admitted, "Can you put me down now?"

"No. Oh my gosh, [Name] how have you hidden that from me?! It's a powerful and dangerous weapon, and it glows light blue," Tanjiro responded.

[Name] stayed silent, not wanting to respond. When they saw Douma again, they'd beat the pulp out of him. Behead him with his own sword. It was all his fault that their sweet brother was now mad at them. It was quite scary, seeing Tanjiro angry. Since it wasn't a normal sight, [Name] didn't know how to take it.

"And why does it smell like that?" Tanjiro asked.

"Smell like what?" [Name] asked, turning their head slightly.

"Like a demon. The stench it gives off is 100 times stronger than the demon I beheaded a few moments ago," Tanjiro explained.

[Name] was silent yet again. Tanjiro sighed, seeing that it was no use getting more information on the blade. The safest thing to do was to dispose of the blade, and make sure that [Name] couldn't get their hands on it anymore. The power that the sword wielded in itself was horrifying, and with the sword skills of someone like [Name]? A nightmare for demons. But the fact that it smelled demonic immediately told Tanjiro that it needed to be removed.

Soon, the two of them were at the top of the mountain. According to [Name], a few days had passed. It didn't seem like that long, but this mountain was quite large and difficult to climb. [Name] was quiet, yet Tanjiro was used to their silence. They never spoke up unnecessarily. Tanjiro then placed his hand out, his expression steely yet sympathetic.

"Give me that blade. May I inspect it?" he asked.

[Name] nodded, and looked down to their scabbard. They clamped their hands around the hilt, but to their shock, their hands closed around air. Seeing this, their eyes widened, the blade missing from their scabbard. [Name] frantically looked around, trying to see if they had simply dropped it. But no, the blade was gone.

"Tanjiro... it's gone."

A/N

Hi! Short chapter today. I hope you're all okay with that! But it's kinda an important chapter, so suspense rules! I hope you like how the plot's going! 'Oh but Sterling, it's the exact same as the normal plot!' You sure bout that, buddy? Btw just call me Sterling, it's my wRitEr'S aLIaS. Anyways, Tanjiro's kinda mean now but he'll get nicer when he sees Nezuko again. Damn, I haven't written about Nezuko in a while. *Gasp*. I NEED TO DO A NEZUKO CHAPTER.

Question: Would you be a demon (not like Nezuko) or human?
