"Cygnus? I need to go out for a few errands, would you like to come?"
"I want to go! I want to go!"
Friday smiled. "Alright, then go and get dressed."
Cygnus immediately bounded for his room, the sound of him stumbling and draws banging shut could be heard from the living room. Friday waited patiently, quite excited. While the idea of him skipping school – although it was hardly school – did worry her, she was looking forward to spending time with him. Especially considering how busy she'd been lately.
Cygnus came out knitted in a fur coat that engulfed his tiny body. He immediately reached up to grip her hand and the two set off. Friday felt a sudden shift once they stepped outside, the cold air sending chills down her back.
"How about we go get something to eat first?" Friday asked as the two stepped into the elevator. She looked around with nervous eyes, the chilling feeling still following her.
Cygnus nodded excitedly and reached up to press the button, standing on the tips of his toes. Without a care in the world, he latched onto her leg and buzzed with excitement.
"Can I choose where we go?" Cygnus asked as the elevator dinged and the doors opened.
"Of course," Friday answered, taking his hand and leading him through the lobby.
Cygnus had a serious look on his face as they walked. He didn't even go up and greet the secretaries at the front until he spoke up again.
"Cafe!" he finally said.
Friday smiled. "Do you mean Mimi's?"
"Yes!" Cygnus nodded. "Wait here, Mama."
Friday sighed and stopped, looking out fondly as the boy ran up to the front desk and proceeded to be the centre of attention. He was much too short to reach up over the tilted front, so instead a secretary stepped out and picked him up. Where her son learnt how to become such a charmer, she didn't know, but it was fun to see just how quickly he was able to make a group of adults fawn over him. A few minutes later, he told the secretaries he had to go back to his Mama and while they swooned, he ran back to her.
They stepped outside and began their walk. Mimi's was only a short walk from their apartment. It was owned by two of Friday's friends... well, she wouldn't call Hyemi Lee a friend but the woman was fun to talk to. Amber Clair, the other owner, had met Friday when she went to university. They had properly introduced themselves to each other when Friday had come in for the fourth and Amber had already prepared her order. Hyemi Lee was Amber's close friend. A sly woman Friday found her; it was always like she was holding something above your head and one could do nothing about it. Still, she was tolerable.
Mimi's was a quaint cafe with brick walls and an abundance of flowers and greenery. A bell rang as the two stepped into the cozy cafe.
"Friday!" a cheery voice exclaimed.
"Hello, Amber," Friday replied.
Amber quickly tied up her long curly hair back and grinned. Once she stepped out from behind the register, she gasped.
"Is that Cygnus!" she squealed, rushing forward and picking up the boy.
"Hello!"
"Hello! You just keep getting cuter, don't you," Amber said, squeezing the boy.
