"Max!"

Danielle got up and grabbed Tyler from behind, struggling to wriggle the knife out of his grasp.
Max slowly got to his feet, stumbling and holding his face.

I finally found the bandages, and slowly wrapped it around Xander's arm. After a bit, I helped him stand.

Max landed another blow to Tyler's temple with Danielle holding him back. Stumbling, Tyler had his face in his hands, dropping the knife.

"C'mon! Lets go!"
Max ushered Danielle and Xander out of the office and down the hallway.

"Jacks! What are you doing?"

Something inside me snapped.

Dashing forward, I picked up the knife. The blood oozed from the tip.

"Jacks! No-!"
I could hear Max hollar from behind me.

I stood over Tyler and raised the knife.

Before I could do anything, Tyler's hand reached up and grabbed my wrist firmly. He wrenched the knife out of my grasp.
I let out a soft squeal as he pushed me back and bent down to grab his weapon.

"No!"

Max swooped in, lunching for Tyler. Tyler fell back, crashing into the ground.

"Stay away from her!"

Max brought his foot down hard onto Tyler's ankle, and I swore I heard something snap.
I never knew Max was that strong. Or, that angry.

I stepped back, kicking the knife away from Tyler.

"Holy shit-"

Max jumped to my side.
"What were you doing?" He asked, panting.
"I-"

The moment was stopped as Tyler launched up. He grabbed Max and sent him back.
I screamed at the suddeness, swerving to the side.
I stumbled back into some bins, and realized this was more broken down gym equipment. I grabbed a parshly- deflated ball and brought it to my foot.

"Hey Tyler!"

Tyler looked back at me, dropping Max out of his grasp.
The rubber made a weird noise as I kicked the ball as hard as I could.

The ball went flying and hit Tyler in the forehead. He went stumbling back as the ball hit the ceiling. He slumped to the floor. Max squirmed out from under his limp body and stared at me.

"Holy shit." Max looked at me. "Where did you get so good at sports?"

I chuckled. "You should see me in kickball."

Max placed a hand on his chest and let out a hearty laugh.
"C'mon, lets get out of here."

We dashed down the hallway, running into classroom six.
Liam and Sukaina were tending to Calum, and Danielle was caring for Xander.

"Calum!"
I ran to his side instantly.
He gave me a weak smile.

"How do you feel?"
Calum ran a hand through my hair.

"Way better now that you're here."

I chuckled, and grazed his hand with my fingers.
"Thats what our pact is for, right?"

Danielle elbowed me from behind.

"Do I get no special treatment?"
Max chuckled.
I turned around and saw him dabbing the blood on his face with a tissue.
I sat down next to him, gently rubbing some blood away with my fingers.

"Thank you." He murmmered.
"For what?"
"You saved my life back there, Jacks."
"You also saved my life. We're even."

Max chuckled as I added a small bandaid to his wound. It was luckily smaller than the other wounds we were dealing with. He was probably just exhausted.

After a moment of silence, I fell back on the teachers desk. I felt like passing away, right there. My soul was ready to leave my body. Liam sat beside me, gently grazing my hand with his.

"You alright down there?"
"No." I grumbled. "I'm ready for this to be done with."
"Me too." Liam added.

"Not yet." Max clicked his tongue. "We may just need to survive the night."

"Maybe we don't have to." Calum added, winking at me.
Right! The phone.

I wiped the phone out of my pocket.
"Look what we found in Tyler's locker." I stated proudly.

"A phone?" Liam took it from my hands.
"A phone with cell service." I straightened my back.
Liam clicked the phone on.
"Holy shit, you're right!"

Everyone did a silent little party for a second.
Afterwards, I clicked open the phone, ready to instantly call the police.
One problem. The phone password.

"Shit. What could be his password?"
"Maybe it has something to do with you, Jacks." Calum mentioned.
"Birthday?"

My birthday is July eighth, so I put 0708. Didn't work.
"No. Uh, what could it be?"

I tried 0807. Even added the year at the end, making it 07082010.

Exhaling, I put in 20100708.
The phone clicked open. I bit my tongue to avoid screaming.

Quickly, I went to the phone app and dialed nine one one. The ringing was loud, but I didn't care.

"Nine one one, whats your emergency?"
I shrieked.
"Hi, um, we are trapped in AEC Middle School. There are seven of us here."
"Alright. Can you please explain the situtation?"
"There is a guy hunting us down. He has a gun and a knife. Um, his name is Tyler."
"Got it, ma'am. Sending officers your way. You said there are seven of you? Can you describe your status?"
"Yes. Um, one shot, three wounded. Our names are Jacks, Liam, Calum, Danielle, Xander, Max and Sukaina."
"Alright, stay on the line-"

The phone cut out. So did the cell serivce.

"No." I shook the phone. "No, no no no no no no no!"

Liam snatched the phone out of my hands and shook it. Nothing worked.

"Motherfucker!" Max slapped something off the teachers desk.

After some silence and Max's grunts, Xander pitched in,
"Hey," He whispered. "Does anyone else hear that?"

There was a slow creaking. We left the door open parshly, mainly just to haul Calum into the room.
To our horror, Tyler was standing at the office doors, looking right at us.

"Fuck! Shut the door!"
I shrieked.
Danielle rushed to shut the other one, and me and Liam dashed forward to shut the one in front of us. Luckily, these doors auto- locked. You'd need a key, or you'd need to open it from the other side.

The room went eeriely silent, then I heard a gun click.
I knew what Tyler was going to do.

"Everyone get down now!"

Everyone ducked as soon as the bullets went through the wooden door.
Crack.
Crack.
Crack.

They hit the brick wall and fell to the ground, the metal clinking against each other.

"Holy-" Calum breathed.

There was a couple of footsteps from outside the door, and nobody dared to move. No one even breathed.

The sounds of the door handle fumbling came from the other side. I breathed heavily as it hit me like a ton of bricks.

He's picking the lock.

"Guys.... what do we do?"
