I sat there, motionless, as I thought about what to do.

We couldn't hide, there were no places besides the storage room and underneath the teacher's desk. Both places are too obvious.
We couldn't make a run for it, Calum has a bullet in his leg.
I looked back and saw Max helping Calum up, wrapping one arm around his shoulders.

Something inside me clicked.

"Everyone, I have a plan. But we all need to agree for it to work."

As we were discussing, we all came to the conclusion.

"Perfect plan, Jacks!"

The door handle sounds became louder slowly. Tyler was really fumbling with the door handle.
Meanwhile, most of the others were waiting at the other door, ready for the plan to spring into action.

Eventually, the door handle fell off, and I braced myself, clutching the colored pencil.

The others slowly opened the other door and stepped out, just as Tyler stepped in.
Tyler stood in the doorway, looking around for a few moments. Then, he saw me and Liam right next to him.

"Hello." I stated bluntly.
Before he could react, I hoist my arm back and send the colored pencil into the side of his arm. It dug through his skin with a pop, and I bit my tongue from screaming.
Tyler hollered and fell back as I dug the pen out. Using my heel as leverage, I yanked it out, the periwinkle blue color stained with red at the tip. Just as Tyler fell onto the ground, I hollered at the others.

"Now!"

Danielle, Sukaina, Max with Calum on his back, and Xander dashed out the other door. Liam grabbed my hand and ran out the door. My legs fumbled, struggling to keep up with him.
Danielle and Xander dashed to come run with us, while Sukaina, Max and Calum were still in the other hallway.

I looked behind my shoulder and saw Tyler running at us.
The plan was going accordingly.

"Spread out!" I roared. Danielle and Xander ducked into the fitness room, and Liam and I ran upstairs. If the plan was going to work, we all needed to scatter, and then meet back where we planned.

Liam looked over at me, winked, and then let go of my hand. Ducking, he rolled himself into the boys washroom. I continued running and dashed into the nearest classroom I could find.
Whipping out my phone, I called Max. He picked up immeaditaly.

"Everyone safe?"
"Yes ma'am. Tyler went after Danielle and Xander."
"Good."

Clicking off, I called Xander.
"Xander, status report?"
Xander responded, "He's headed upstairs. Over."
I giggled. "Got it. Over."
I mimicked his tone. I heard him burst out laughing before I clicked off.

Waiting for a few moments, I gripped my periwinkle- colored pencil. The tip was red and disgusting, but I took pride in myself. I used a colored pencil as a weapon.
Everyone also had one, just in case. Thank god, Danielle pitched that idea in.
Eventually, Liam called me.

"Tyler's on the other side of the school." I heard him say.
"Alright. Phase two."

Walking on the tips of my toes, I creep out into the hallway. I make it downstairs a little faster then I thought.
My pace turned into a jog as I slowly got faster and faster down the hallway.
I saw the West Gym doors slowly open at the end as I turned the corner. Max's eyes poked out from it, and he secretly motioned for me to hurry up. Giggling, I slipped inside the gym.

This gym was slightly smaller than the main one, the one with the stage. We were planning to chill in here for the night, because this is one of the last places Tyler would check. He hates sports.
A few moments later, Liam slowly slipped in.

Phase three.

We all pushed everything we could find against the door. Chairs, buckets, equipment, everything. Max and Liam did the bigger stuff.
Dusting our hands off, we all flopped on the floor in exhaust.

We chose the west gym for one reason only. There's a storage room for supplies we could use as "weapons". If Tyler ever got inside. And plus, with all our supplies from the office, we could spend the night here.

Twidiling my thumbs, I fell back on the ground next to Xander. He fell back beside me. Everyone eventually crawled up together on the floor. I curled up on Liam's arm, resting my head on his rising and falling torso. He pulled my body close to his.
We were lying on the wrestling mats near the door that exited to the outside world. There were probably plenty of boards on the other side. Max even tried prying the door open, but it didn't work.

Calum was lying above my head, spinning his deformed ruler in his fingers. I lifted my hand up and gently brushed my fingertips against his. He looked back and gave me a soft smile.

"How's that leg holding up?" I asked.
"The painkillers made it go numb." He said, and I rememebered the small dose of painkillers we gave him a few moments ago.
"Calum, that's a gunshot wound. A small dose of painkillers can stop the pain of a bullet?"
"Surpisingly, yes."

He gently took my hand and squeezed it. My hand melted into his as we kept a firm grasp.
Max turned his head to look at me and yawned.

"You two are like peas in a pod. Its honestly adorable." He mentioned.
I sighed, only tightening my grip on
Calum's hand, interlacing fingers with him.
Max giggled and nudged me.
Meanwhile, Sukaina at my other foot, looked over at us, groggily.

"Would you guys shut up?" She growled.
I chuckled and brushed my foot against her arm.
"Someone's grouchy."

I curled up more against Liam's arm, and he pet my hair with his free hand.

"I'm glad we got to meet like this," He whispered in my hair. "I mean, not when we are being chased by a murderer. But the inbetweens. Moments like these."
I chuckled, positioning myself.
"Yeah. These moments are quite nice."
I breathed in and out gently, scooching up to face him. Our noses gently brushed, and I could feel his warm breath against my face.
I felt Calum squeeze my shoulder from above, and Max nudged my other arm with his elbow. Sukaina grabbed my foot, and so did Xander, grabbing the other one.
I saw Danielle on Max's other side, smirking at us.

The moment was peaceful and full of happiness.
I spoke too soon.

Bang.

"Guys... what was that..?"

Bang.
Another bang, much louder.

"Its coming from the exit doors. The ones we barricaded."

I sighed with relief. Our plan worked. Tyler wasn't getting in here anytime soon.

Then, another sound rang out from the distance.

Crack.

A gunshot.

Crack.

"Oh cutie.... such a shame."

The doors shook. Some of the smaller items fell from their spots.

"What in the holy fuck is he doing?"
I whispered, sitting up.
