¤Her confession¤
▪Ashvik's Pov▪

Few hours ago ~

I shot Sumit an irritated look. "Why would you schedule the meeting now when you know I'm about to leave?"

If he wasn't both my friend and my second-in-command, I might've snapped. He knew this was the time I always headed home-to Amaira, my Jaan.

"It's important, Vik," he said, trying to justify it. "Everyone's already in the meeting room, and you really need to be there. It's business."

"Fine, but make it quick." I muttered, turning my attention to my phone, hoping for a message from My baby. Nothing.

She was probably tied up with rehearsals for her concert, leaving me missing our nights together, those brief moments when I could hold her and feel her love-my real comfort.

"Vik," Sumit's voice cut in again, this time with a hesitant smile. I raised an eyebrow. "What now?" I asked sharply.

"Uh, Mukesh Chauhan couldn't make it. His daughter's here instead." Sumit explained, his tone apologetic.

I shot him a withering look and grabbed the nearest object-a small glass globe-and chucked it at him. It bounced off his shoulder, making him wince.

"Seriously? You're lucky I didn't throw you out the door." I snapped.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry! Just don't mess me up too bad. No girl's gonna want a guy with a permanent limp." he whined, rubbing his shoulder.

I stood up, my expression cold.

Sumit backed up a step with a nervous laugh. "Come on, BOSS, if you want to leave soon, let's get this over with."

I let out a sigh, resigning myself to the situation. The faster we dealt with this, the faster I could get home to her. I steeled myself and walked out of my office, heading down the hall toward the meeting room at the end of my private floor.

I sat in the CEO's chair, my eyes fixed on the screen where one of Chauhan's head HRs droned on about the project for our companies' collaboration. The meeting room was filled with people, but I barely registered their presence. My face was emotionless, carrying that dangerous look that always kept everyone on edge. The fear in the room was palpable, and it made me smirk inwardly.
