During the tour, the band usually slept on the tour bus. However, since they were performing two shows in the city, their manager had succeeded in booking some rooms at a nearby hotel.

Noah had requested a room to himself, intending to share it with Lisa when she arrived. He went to a florist and bought several bouquets of roses to decorate the room. Lisa had been delighted when she first arrived, but now the room seemed empty, stripped of the magic Noah had managed to create for her. She caressed the cover of the book he had given her.

It was proof that Noah thought of her even when they were apart, but why did she still feel so detached from his world?

She and Nicholas had returned to the hotel and decided to watch a movie together. Lisa had changed into her pajamas. When she knocked on the door of the room Nicholas shared with Jolly, she saw that he had the same idea.

"I couldn’t find any interesting movies. Do you have any preferences?" the bassist asked as Lisa entered the room.

Nicholas and Jolly were the tidiest of the group; nothing was left outside of their bags or closets. The atmosphere and order gave Lisa a sense of peace.

"We don’t have to watch a movie; the important thing is that you have a beer to offer me."

Nick smiled and handed her one of the beers from the mini-fridge. He opened one for himself as well and sat down on the couch near the TV.

"Why did you want to leave?" Lisa asked, taking a sip from the bottle.

"Promise you won’t psychoanalyze me if I tell you?"

Lisa furrowed her brow. "Is it that serious?"

"No, it’s just... Sometimes I feel like I’m not cut out for this life. You know, I’m a tattoo artist, I enjoy that work, and believe me, I enjoy playing music too, but... I’m not made for traveling for months on end without having a real place to call home."

"How long have you felt this way?"

"I asked you not to treat me like one of your patients, please."

Lisa sat down next to him and placed a hand on his leg, hoping that the warmth of her touch would make him see her as a person, not just a therapist. "I’m not treating you like a patient, Nick. I’m treating you as a friend. You are my friend, and friends listen to each other. You don’t need me to tell you what to do... How long has it been since you talked about this with someone?"

"Since we started the tour. I love being part of a band, traveling the world... I adore it..."

"But every time you step off the stage, you feel empty, as if all the effort you put into it was for nothing. But that’s not true. The things we love most tire us out because we put so much of ourselves into them. And someone will always benefit from it, so it's not a waste of time"

Nicholas looked into her eyes, so close that a simple movement would align their lips. "I’ll ask you the same question: how long have you felt this way?"

Lisa didn’t know either, but those blue eyes were pleading for an answer. Nicholas didn’t want to be alone in that moment, and she thought that the truth was the right answer. "Since I moved for work. Sometimes I think my parents were right. I should have become a teacher or something else, but not a psychologist. I’m not cut out for it; I see everyone but no one sees me."

It was true. She felt like a mirror, reflecting everyone but never being reflected herself. Nicholas squeezed Lisa’s hand, which was still resting on his thigh. He would have said anything to keep that moment from ending, but before he could think of something intelligent to say, the door swung open, revealing the enthusiastic faces of Jolly and Nick.
