Some months had passed since that day. Lisa and Noah had rebuilt their relationship, and she had done everything possible to avoid being in the same room as Nicholas. The album was completed, and that evening there would be a party in honor of Bad Omens. Lisa had put on a long black dress that covered her entire length, the bodice perfectly outlining her curves. Noah would be waiting for her at the house they had rented for the event.
She got into the car and was already starting to regret wearing a long dress. She had never liked driving, and now, feeling uncomfortable behind the wheel, she was afraid of having an accident.
She arrived at the party and several people from the crew began to greet her. By now, she knew them all and had established a certain rapport with them. Bryan hugged her and complimented her on the dress, joking about how lucky Noah was to have her in his life.
Soon after, she encountered Jolly, who gave her a quick hug. "Sorry, but I have to run" he said, showing her the two glasses he precariously balanced with one hand.
"Some damsel to entertain?"
Jolly smiled at her and left her alone.
Again.
At the bar, she saw the two Nicks talking to each other. She pretended not to see them. She didn’t want to talk to Nicholas, didn’t want to meet his gaze, didn’t want to see him at all.
However, Folio had spotted her and started waving to get her attention. Lisa sighed heavily and headed toward the two musicians.
"You look stunning," said the younger member of the group when they were close enough.
Lisa responded with an embarrassed smile. She could feel Nicholas's gaze on her, but she didn't turn to look at him, not even for a second.
A guy she didn’t know began calling the drummer, pulling him away from them. Lisa cast a brief glance at Nicholas before saying, "Well, I’ll go now."
But the bassist’s firm hand held her wrist. "Please, don’t leave."
"I don’t want to be near you, not even for a second, Nick."
"Believe me, I know. But I don’t want our friendship to be lost. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I get it, your heart was broken and I was there. I just don't want to lose our friendship" He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Folio’s right, you look stunning."
She found herself lost in his touch and memories from that night came of the surface. Deep in her mind, she didn't regret what they did. Lisa felt all the love Nicholas could've give to her and for that moment, she embraced it.
They were interrupted by a loud noise. The crowd had erupted into applause, and it didn’t take long to understand who it was for. Noah Sebastian had just arrived in the room, his black shirt clinging to his well-defined chest. Lisa stepped away from Nicholas just in time to avoid being seen with him by her boyfriend's hazel eyes.
Noah rushed to her, enveloping her in a hug. Usually, his tattooed arms were a safe haven, but being embraced by Noah in front of Nicholas felt wrong. Which didn’t make sense.
The singer led her to the center of the dance floor and twirled her in his arms. This was her place. In Noah’s tattooed arms, exchanging smiling kisses, because life itself smiled at her when she was with him.
After a while, Noah was taken away by some guys from the record label. It was the big album debut, it was a work night for him.
Lisa noticed that Nicholas was no longer at the bar and decided to order something to drink.
