As they continued to discuss the plan, Jungkook noticed a subtle change in his father's demeanor. Ji-Hyun's eyes seemed to gleam with a hidden intensity, and his words took on a slightly manipulative tone.
Taehyung, too, picked up on the shift and shot Jungkook a warning glance. But Jungkook was already on guard, his instincts screaming that something was off.
"Ji-Hyun, what's really going on?" Jungkook asked, his voice firm. "You're not just asking for help out of the blue. What do you want from me?"
Ji-Hyun's smile faltered, and for a moment, Jungkook saw a glimmer of the cold, calculating man he remembered from his childhood.
"I just want what's best for our family, Jungkook," Ji-Hyun said, his voice dripping with insincerity.
Taehyung stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger. "Don't lie to him, Ji-Hyun. We know you're hiding something."
Jungkook's heart raced as the truth began to unravel. What secrets was his father keeping, and how far would he go to achieve his goals?
