Today was the day that the social worker would be coming by to check on Hadley and how everything was going. Hadley wasn't nervous as she was having a great time with Eric and Sarah.
Hadley sat quietly in the living room, her eyes darting nervously towards the door. It had been six months since she had moved in with Eric and Sarah, and today was the day of the social worker's visit. Eric and Sarah, her adopted parents, had been nothing but kind and supportive, but the thought of the visit still made her anxious.
The doorbell rang, and Eric got up to answer it. A moment later, he returned with Ms. Johnson, the social worker. She was a tall woman with a warm smile and kind eyes. She greeted Hadley with a gentle nod before turning to Eric and Sarah.
"Thank you for having me," Ms. Thompson said, her voice calm and reassuring. "How have things been going?"
Eric and Sarah exchanged a glance before Sarah spoke up. "Things have been going well. Hadley has adjusted remarkably well, and we're really proud of her."
Ms. Thompson nodded, taking out her notepad. "That's wonderful to hear. Hadley, how have you been feeling?"
Hadley hesitated for a moment before answering. "I've been great. Eric and Sarah are really nice, and I love living here."
Ms. Thompson smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. Can you tell me about some of the things you've been doing since you moved in?"
Hadley thought for a moment. "Well, I started a new school, and I've made a friend. Sarah takes me to school before work, and Eric helps me with my homework. We also have family game nights and movie night, which are really fun."
"That sounds lovely," Ms. Thompson said, jotting down notes. "Eric, Sarah, how has Hadley been adjusting from your perspective?"
Eric leaned forward, his expression thoughtful. "Hadley has been a joy to have in our home. She's very responsible and kind-hearted. We've seen her become more confident and open over the past few months."
Sarah nodded in agreement. "She's become a part of our family. We've had our challenges, but we've worked through them together. Hadley is very resilient."
Ms. Thompson looked at Hadley. "It sounds like you've been doing really well. Is there anything that's been difficult for you?"
Hadley bit her lip, thinking. "Sometimes I miss my old friends. But Eric and Sarah have been really supportive, and that helps a lot."
Ms. Thompson nodded. "It's completely natural to miss your old home and friends. It's important to talk about those feelings. Have you been able to talk to Eric and Sarah about them?"
Hadley nodded. "Yes, they always listen and try to help me feel better."
"That's great to hear," Ms. Thompson said, turning to Eric and Sarah. "It's important for Hadley to feel supported and understood. How have you been addressing her emotional needs?"
Sarah answered, "We make sure to have open conversations with Hadley. We encourage her to express her feelings and reassure her that it's okay to feel sad or miss her old home.
Ms. Thompson smiled approvingly. "That's a very proactive approach. It's clear that Hadley is in a nurturing and supportive environment.
She turned to Hadley again. "Hadley, is there anything you'd like to talk about or anything you need?"
Hadley shook her head. "No, I think I'm okay. Thank you."
Ms. Thompson smiled warmly. "You're very brave, Hadley. Remember, it's always okay to ask for help if you need it."
She stood up, signaling the end of the visit. "Thank you, Eric and Sarah, for your dedication and care. Hadley is lucky to have you both."
Eric and Sarah walked Ms. Thompson to the door, thanking her for her visit. Hadley felt a sense of relief wash over her. The visit had gone well, and she felt reassured by Ms. Thompson's kind words.
As the door closed behind Ms. Thompson, Eric and Sarah turned to Hadley with smiles. "You did great," Sarah said, giving her a hug.
Hadley smiled back, feeling a warmth in her heart. She knew that no matter what, she had a family who cared about her and would always be there to support her.
Heyyyy chapter three is hereeeee. Any ways here's a social worker chapter, also remember I have no idea about adopting a child so anything ive said in this chapter could possibly wrong but again its wattpad. As you can see it's been 6 months since Hadley has moved in. So at this time it is December. I'm thinking of doing about 3 months of each time skip. But next chapter will be Christmas and Hadley meeting family members and then the chapter after that will be hadleys birthday.
