A month had passed, and the tension in Don Lino's empire had only escalated. The Black Fin gang had become relentless, attacking shipments and destabilizing alliances that Don Lino had carefully built over years. Every day, more bad news poured in. Another shipment intercepted, another ally getting nervous, another threat to his empire. And through it all, Lino felt the weight of his responsibilities crushing him.
He sat in his office, isolated from the rest of the Titanic, a bottle of expensive scotch untouched on his desk. His thoughts were a jumble of stress, doubt, and a strange new emotion he couldn't quite place—a vulnerability he only allowed himself to feel in the presence of one person: Mr. Sykes.
But even that comfort had its complications. Lino had fallen for Sykes, and they were now in a relationship, something that should have given him peace. Yet, a gnawing fear lingered in his gut. Could Sykes truly love him, or was he just going along with this to appease him?
In the office with him, Mr. Sykes stood behind Lino, his thin hands working through the tension in the shark's broad shoulders. Sykes had been quieter lately, more distant, eating less, speaking less, lost in his own world of doubts and fears. The pressure from Elena weighed on him every second, but he kept those thoughts to himself, doing what Elena commanded, feeding Lino the illusion of love.
Lino sighed heavily as Sykes massaged him, the sensation of relief almost overwhelming. "You're really good at this," Lino murmured, his deep voice rough with exhaustion. "I don't know what I'd do without you right now."
Sykes forced a smile, though his mind was far from the present moment. What would Elena say? he thought, the manipulation sinking deeper into his bones. He leaned in closer, his breath hot on Lino's neck. Lino groaned softly, a sound that sent a ripple of both pleasure and unease through Sykes. He couldn't deny that part of him still cared for Lino—deeply—but Elena's voice was always there, whispering that it was all a lie.
Sykes let his hands slip lower, tracing the edges of Lino's muscular shoulders, his breathing becoming heavier as the intimacy between them deepened. He wasn't even sure why he was doing this, why he allowed himself to get this close to Lino when all he could think about was how it was all just a game. He was supposed to be playing Lino, pretending. But sometimes it didn't feel like pretending, and that terrified him.
Don Lino groaned again, closing his eyes as the stress seemed to melt away under Sykes' touch. "You're really something, Sykes. I—" He stopped, as though the words he wanted to say were too heavy, too vulnerable. Instead, he just breathed in the moment.
And then, without warning, the door burst open.
Frankie, Lino's eldest son, stepped into the room. "Hey Pops, Luca said—" Frankie froze mid-sentence, his eyes widening as he took in the sight before him: his father, groaning in pleasure under Sykes' touch, Sykes leaning in too close, his face inches from Lino's neck. The atmosphere in the room was thick with something Frankie couldn't—and didn't want to—name.
Lino jerked up straight, his body tensing. "Frankie!" he said, voice cracking slightly. He turned quickly to face his son, trying to act casual despite the heavy moment that had just been interrupted.
Frankie's face turned pale, a mixture of confusion and disgust flashing across his features. "I, uh—Luca was looking for you," he stammered, clearly trying to process what he had walked in on. His eyes darted between Sykes and Lino, and the tension in the room skyrocketed.
