After Luca left the office, the atmosphere in Don Lino's room was suffocating. The revelation about Luca's feelings, while shocking, only added to the turmoil already brewing inside Lino. But it was Sykes who remained at the center of his thoughts. He couldn't ignore the growing suspicion that had been gnawing at him—something wasn't right, and as much as he didn't want to believe it, the pieces were starting to fall into place.

Lino sat down heavily at his desk, running his hands through his rough skin. He had kicked Sykes out earlier, but the confrontation had left him feeling unsettled. His instincts told him that Sykes was hiding something much bigger than he let on.

Meanwhile, Luca stormed down the hallway, the rejection from Lino still fresh and stinging. He felt humiliated, but more than that, he felt betrayed. All this time, he had kept his love for Lino a secret, only for it to blow up in his face. The knowledge that Lino's heart belonged to Sykes, even after everything, left a bitter taste in his mouth.

As Luca wandered the corridors, a plan began to form in his mind. If he couldn't have Lino's love, then perhaps he could gain something else—power. He had been loyal to Lino for years, but now that loyalty felt misplaced. Maybe it was time to consider his options, especially with the shadow of the Black Fin looming over everything.

Sykes wasn't the only one who could play both sides.

Luca slithered through the murky waters, his tentacles trailing behind him as he crossed the invisible boundary that separated the territory of Don Lino's Great Whites from the Black Fin. His heart raced in his chest, a mix of anger and regret twisting in his gut. This wasn't him—this wasn't what he stood for. But he was tired. Tired of being pushed aside, tired of watching Sykes worm his way into Don Lino's heart.

He couldn't bear it anymore—the way Lino looked at Sykes, the way Sykes had wormed his way into Lino's life, his heart, his world.

That should've been him.

Luca had been by Lino's side for years, loyal, devoted, willing to do whatever it took to protect him, but Lino didn't see him that way. Not like he saw Sykes.

Sykes.

The very name made Luca's blood boil. Sykes wasn't worthy of Lino's trust, and now Luca had proof of it. He had watched the betrayal unfold right before his eyes. And still... Lino had defended him, had chosen him over Luca, the man who had been nothing but faithful from the start. It stung deeply, leaving Luca feeling like nothing more than a shadow, forever stuck in second place.

He had spent too long living in the shadows, protecting Lino from afar, only for Sykes to take what Luca believed was rightfully his: Lino's trust, his loyalty, his heart.

He was tired of being a second choice, always lingering in the shadows, watching from the sidelines while Sykes wormed his way into Lino's heart. Every sneaky glance, every secret meeting, every touch between Sykes and Lino was a knife in his chest. The betrayal gnawed at him, festering deep within his core, until the resentment was too much to bear.

Luca's thoughts swirled darkly.
