MANYAKHET, THE CAPITAL CITY-

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue over the sprawling estate of Devendra's manor. The evening air was thick with anticipation, a silent witness to the shifts occurring within the manor's walls.

Abeera remained seated before the grand mirror in her chamber, staring at her own reflection with cold calculation. The manor was slipping through her fingers, and she knew it. The whispers of courtiers, the sidelong glances from servants, and most damning of all—the icy indifference of Devendra.

Once, she had been the jewel of this household. The concubine who had stolen the heart of a warrior. The woman whose beauty had commanded attention, the one whose wit had seduced the most powerful man she had ever known. But Padmini's death seems to have shattered everything. Bad luck seemed clung to her like an unwanted veil, and the world that had once adored her now watched, waiting for her to fall.

She would not let that happen. No! Never!

Sarala Devi, that wretched old woman, had made it clear—Abeera had no place in this household. A concubine was meant to be an ornament, a creature of pleasure, not a woman who held power. But Abeera refused to be dismissed like a spent flame. If she could not reclaim Devendra's love through passion, she would do it another way. By becoming the perfect daughter-in-law.

But, to achieve that, she needed guidance—mentors, who would teach her the ways of the household, who would make Sarala Devi see her as indispensable. She needed the best.

And so, she sent word to her most loyal henchman, her dearest sister Sujata. It's just that this letter was intercepted midway by Amita, who let out a sweet smile, " Let the game begin....."

The courtyard was empty when Abeera stepped outside that night, save for one figure waiting for her under the cover of darkness.

"My lady," the man bowed deeply, his face hidden beneath a hood. "I have found them."

Abeera folded her arms, her golden bangles clinking softly. "They are skilled?"

"They are the best," the man assured her. "One is a woman of deep knowledge, once a governess in a noble household. The other... a quiet presence, but with sharp instincts. They will mold you into whatever you wish to become."

Abeera smirked. "Then bring them to me."

Two days later, two women stood before her, their heads respectfully bowed. They introduced themselves as Rajani and Chandrika—Atula and Amita, though Abeera would never know their true names or purpose.

"My lady," Rajani (Atula) said, her voice smooth as honey, "Your accept our humble greetings. Your sister, Devi Sujata spoke highly of you. It is an honor to serve." Abeera's lips curved slightly. Sujata had arranged this? Then it had to be perfect.

Chandrika (Amita), ever the demure one, added, "We have heard of your plight, noble lady. You were born to shine, and we will help you reclaim your place. But it will take patience."

Abeera resisted the urge to scoff. Patience was for the weak. But now, she needed them!

"So tell me," she said, reclining on the silk cushions, "Where do I begin?"

Chandrika and Rajni looked at each other only to see mockery in each other's eyes. Thus began their elaborate plan and under their guidance, Abeera stepped into a new role.

She rose before the servants did, inspecting the kitchens at dawn. She oversaw the inventory, learning the delicate art of managing household finances.
