First noticed my strange behavior, she grabbed me and asked, "Cain, you seem to have something hidden from us since the beginning. Is there anything valuable here that you want to find alone?" 9
I laughed bitterly, "Damn it! Would I be that kind of person?
"Who knows what rich people think. Maybe your family is making money by doing such bad things!"
I glared at her fiercely, but there was no way to explain. Since ancient times, rich people have climbed up on top of poor people's heads. What kind of bad things don't rich people do? Maybe my father really did such a thing that goes against conscience. So I weakly grunted, "I think it is most likely you who would do this. You put this matter on me, which has nothing to do with me, maybe just because you are always thinking about doing so!"
She smiled sweetly, "Haha, such a weak defense. It seems that you really have something to hide."
"Ha, you two stop talking about stand-up comedy by yourselves." Ziva chuckled and said, "Don't forget that we are still here!"
He shouted with a flushed face, "Smelly Ziva, who is married to that bastard? I would rather marry pigs and dogs than this stinky guy!" What's wrong, am I not salted vegetables!
"But you two always look so happy!" Ziva pointed at us and laughed.
"It's your eyes that are bad!" Ducky threatened, pouting. "Ziva, if you keep this up I'll 'accidentally' let it slip."
"No!" Ziva blushed, she looked around carefully and surrendered, saying, "Yes, yes. How could our kind, charming, pure, intelligent Miss Cain look at Cain, a rogue? Indeed, I am old and my eyes are blurred."
"Hey... I'm still here. How dare you say such things!" I angrily covered my head with both hands.
Finn and others laughed. Killian asked with a bitter smile, "So what are you looking for? Is it really that someone left treasure or something like that?"
"What's wrong with your brains? You're just thinking about cheap things!" I stared at these four guys in a daze.
"That's more exciting. Cain, you're too rigid!" Finn laughed.
"Forget it, I'll reveal the answer." Sometimes dealing with these people really makes me tired. I took a deep breath and said slowly, "I've looked at the materials ten times today, and found an interesting place. The material shows that this five-story building has six housing units on each floor. There are a total of 30 rooms. And every room is exactly the same in shape as a three-bedroom one-room apartment. But what's strange isn't here. Remember how many people died here? Hey, there were 137 deaths. So according to reason..."
"Tell, each house should have died more than 4 people. Even if you are lucky enough to be in one of these 137th chances." I pulled out a piece of paper and put it under the flashlight so they could see clearly.
Killian and others turned pale. The voice of fear trembled, "This... no, it's impossible!"
"But that's just how it is!" I waved my arms excitedly. "There are actually 25 rooms in this building where no one has ever died. All of them have concentrated on dying in the first room on each floor. These 137 people, every single one of them!"
A moment of silence.
"It's really scary. Let's go out!" Ziva gently pulled at Jasper's sleeve. Almost everyone agreed with her suggestion except me.
"But don't you think it's interesting?" I stopped them and laughed. For some reason, I didn't feel afraid at all. A strong curiosity stirred in my mind, even forming a kind of hysterical obsession. Looking back on this later, I realized that myself then was really strange. This kind of curiosity that doesn't care about others' feelings is really me?
"Where is it interesting?" said angrily.
"Well, since we're here anyway, let's take a look at what makes these five rooms different from the others. Maybe there will be some unexpected discoveries." I looked at the fluorescent watch and said with half threat: "It's already 10:15. It would be too wasteful to search together. I suggest that we divide into two groups. I'll check the first floor and second floor, Killian, Finn and Ziva will check the fourth floor and fifth floor, then everyone will gather again for the third floor. What do you think?"
They four were not satisfied with my arbitrariness, but they still gave in to me on the front page of the school newspaper. So we parted at the foot of the stairs. I went deep into darkness under the first floor.
Unfortunately, we don't know that Killian's feeling is actually right. There must be something wrong with this building. Or it can also be said that there was a long-term dormant thing awakened.
The night continued, accompanied by silence and blackness as if it were dead. The footsteps of five people echoed throughout the building. But no one knew for sure that every step forward was a death sentence!
