The school had a week off, and it was said that there would be some activities in our school. So when I knew Huang Juan's death news, it was already three days later.
That day, my phone rang non-stop. "Cain, can you come over to accompany me? I'm so scared!" Xanthe said pitifully to me.
"Cain, you bastard come to my house. I...I..." She started crying. What's wrong with them? Of course I couldn't go out at the same time for two people, so I invited both of them to a cafe near school. They came in pale-faced and stared at each other without blinking their eyes, which was very confusing.
"Say, what's going on?" I indicated for them to sit across from me and asked in a low voice. Xanthe fell silent. Xanthe slowly combed her beautiful and soft shoulder-length hair with her hands, then suddenly burst out laughing as if she had thought of something: "It seems that we both lost."
"What does it mean?" I frowned.
"Clio asked me to cancel our bet of peeling apples at night yesterday. So I suggested another game. That is, we both pretend to be pitiful and call you today, then see who you choose to accompany. Of course, the one forgotten by you will lose." Xanthe laughed so hard that she almost couldn't breathe: "But obviously we both lost. Haha, I'm really stupid!"
Nodding slowly, expressionless on his face: "How could Cain care about us? He only cares about himself."
"66" I was a little angry, "Xanthe and you. Do you think I'm stupid? Is it really fun to bet on me?" Yes, I am indeed selfish. But when you are asking others for something all the time, shouldn't you also give something in return!" I grabbed the cup fiercely and drank the cola down. I angrily left them behind. Damn! They were too disrespectful. Those two women, what kind of things they were! However, weren't they very hateful towards each other? When did they start walking on the same side? My mind cleared up after a while. It's impossible for me to get along with Xanthe. So why do she provoke me and make me hate her? What is her intention?
I dodged to a corner and peered through the glass window of the coffee shop. I saw that they silently finished their coffees, then paid for them before leaving. I followed her carefully.
She looked very lost and was about to fall. I couldn't help it, so I leaned over her and asked softly, "What happened between you and Xanthe? Tell me the truth."
She was so scared that she pressed her heart and pinched me hard, "You're going to die. You have to be responsible for scaring me!"
I laughed and said, "It's okay. How could someone with such a thick skin be afraid of being scared to death?" She pouted angrily but her eyes softened as she whispered, "I'm sorry for what I just said."
"It's really too much." I said angrily, "If you had said such a thing to me, would you have forgiven me so easily?"
"I will!" She nodded resolutely.
"But I won't." I looked like I had eaten a dead rat.
"How can you forgive me?" she asked pitifully.
I coughed and said, "Unless you tell me the truth. What happened between you two, you and Xanthe?"!
"You are so stubborn. Why don't you believe others?" He said with a face turned away, "I hummed and said," I never believed Xanthe's words half of them because she is too good at lying. Sometimes even I can hardly tell her lies from truth under layers of lies."
What is it that she's trying to hide? But this time, her made-up lie has some holes. Because she's a strong person and will never bet on something without any chance of winning."
"No chance?" He looked at me in surprise. I nodded, "If what Xanthe said about gambling is true, then under normal circumstances, I would only have two choices. The first one is to go to you. The second is to invite both of you out. I will never go alone to Xanthe's place. So she will definitely lose no matter which situation it is. Of course, Xanthe also knows this very well. Then how could she possibly gamble with you on a bet that she will surely lose? " I grabbed her weak shoulders and slowly said, "So please tell me the truth!"
She trembled all over, lowered her head and said softly as if she had made a decision: "Cain, my parents are not at home tonight. Would you like to stay with me?"
"Ah!" I was so shocked that my mouth opened wide and couldn't be closed. Although there is a voice in my heart shouting to myself, "I'm only 17 years old, just young and vigorous." But... but..." Cain! It's not what you think!" My face turned red with shame, almost leaning his head on me: "You don't want to know the truth? If you live at my house, you will definitely find out!"
"Well, I don't know why." I slightly sorted out my confused thoughts and said slowly: "But truth has a great attraction to me. For its sake, okay, I promise you." As if remembering something, I suddenly said again: "By the way, do you know? Killian called me today to tell me that Huang Juan, who is very prying, died."
"What!" She turned pale, shivering and breaking out in cold sweat.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked curiously. Huang Juan, although she was in our class too, we didn't get along well with her. In my memory, even only met her once. So is it necessary to make such a big fuss about Huang Juan's death?
"How did she die?" She asked in a trembling voice. I lowered my head and said, "I heard that she died by falling down from the building."
"What! So what I saw last night was not a dream! Me! I will be killed too!" She screamed in panic, clutching my hand and asking me over and over again, "What should I do? What should I do! I'm going to die, really going to die!"
I shook her angrily and shouted, "Wake up. Tell me what happened to the bottom?"
"Cain! You, you won't leave me, right!" She suddenly asked in a nervous way. "No, of course not." I gently patted her and my doubts became more intense.
What did she see last night? And what was with her strange behavior today? Suddenly a flash of inspiration came to my mind, and I froze. Did that bet not get canceled after all. She and Xanthe still went up there to peel apples?
