Y/n sat on the airplane, a smile spreading across their face as they powered down their phone. They were British by birth but had settled in California, enjoying the milder climate to escape the harsh winters back home. As the flight took off, they nestled into their seat, allowing themselves to drift off to sleep, eagerly anticipating their return to the UK, where their true home awaited them.
"Excuse me, ma'am, we're landing," a flight attendant's voice roused them from their slumber. Y/n quickly woke, buckling their seatbelt with a mix of nervous excitement and anticipation. It wasn't the landing itself that made their heart race, but the prospect of meeting Wilbur for the first time in person.
The plane touched down smoothly, and y/n disembarked, collected their baggage, and navigated through the airport. After arranging an Uber ride using the address Wilbur had sent them via direct message, they hopped into the car, exchanging pleasantries with the driver as they made their way to Wilbur's house. The journey felt surreal, a quiet interlude filled with anticipation.
Upon arriving, y/n took a deep breath, gathered their belongings, and stepped out of the Uber. With a mix of excitement and nerves, they approached Wilbur's front door, ringing the bell and waiting for the moment they had imagined countless times. The sound of hurried footsteps approached, and the door swung open.
They're stood Wilbur Soot, the person y/n had admired from afar for so long. His brown, tousled hair was as endearing as ever, framing his face, and his brown eyes sparkled with a blend of surprise and affection. At 6'3", he towered over y/n, who was slightly shorter at 5'5", though they often jokingly claimed to be 5'6" due to the way they carried themselves.
"Holy shit, you're real! Hi, love," Wilbur exclaimed, still grappling with the reality of the moment.
"Hi, mi amor. I'm very real," y/n responded softly, blushing as they realized that the endearing nicknames, they had grown so accustomed to were now part of their real-life experience. The realization that what they had thought might be a mere platonic connection was, in fact, something far more profound, filled them with a sense of awe.
"Come in, please. Let me get your stuff and put it in the guest room. Oh my gosh, this is incredible!" Wilbur rambled; his excitement palpable.
"Amor, I'd actually like to stay in your room with you, if that's okay," y/n interjected, their voice tinged with a mix of shyness and determination.
"Oh, yeah, darling, no problem. More than fine, really," Wilbur said, his cheeks flushing as he carried their belongings to his room.
Y/n followed him upstairs, giggling as they observed his nervous but delighted behavior. Upon entering the room, y/n noticed how Wilbur placed their things down with a nervous excitement, muttering to himself.
"So, my love, where's my hug and kiss? I thought we'd have done that by now, especially with all the nick-" y/n began, but they were interrupted when Wilbur's lips met theirs in a tender kiss. The suddenness of the kiss made them blush deeply, and they instinctively placed a hand behind Wilbur's head to keep him close.
Pulling away, they smiled at each other, their eyes reflecting the warmth of the moment.
"What were you saying, love? I could'nt hear you," Wilbur teased, a lopsided grin on his face.
"Well, never mind now. My god, Soot, you're a good kisser, shit, man," y/n mumbled, their face hidden in their hands as they felt a wave of embarrassment.
"Don't hide your pretty face. Don't be embarrassed; you're a good kisser too, m'love," Wilbur cooed softly, gently removing their hands from their face and planting a quick, affectionate peck on their lips.
"Stop, Wilbur. I didn't think you'd be this affectionate. I'm not used to this yet," y/n murmured, resting their face on his chest, which made him chuckle softly.
"My love, you came to visit me, and I said I'd be your official boyfriend. What did you expect? Not to take this opportunity?" Wilbur asked in a soft whisper.
"I know, and I'm only saying this because I know you'll do it, but can you actually ask so I can say yes?" y/n requested, their voice tinged with nervousness.
"Y/n M/n L/n, will you do me the honor of being my partner from now until I decide to pop the question?" Wilbur asked with a playful grin.
"William Gold, I would be honored!" y/n replied, their face lighting up as they leaned in for another kiss, both of them reveling in the newfound joy of being together.
"It's late. Why don't you change into one of my shirts and whatever you brought, and let's get to bed? Don't worry, I won't peek while you change," Wilbur said with a smile.
"Yeah, okay. Hold on, throw me a shirt, please," y/n requested.
Wilbur tossed a shirt in their direction and turned around, covering his eyes as he sat on the bed. Y/n changed quickly into the oversized shirt and a pair of shorts, then approached Wilbur, pulling his hands down. They kissed his nose, forehead, and finally his lips, savoring the intimacy.
"M'dear, you are so cute, you know that?" Wilbur said, wrapping an arm around their waist and pulling them close.
"I didn't know, love, but did you know I find you incredibly cute?" y/n teased, giggling as Wilbur pulled them onto his lap, cradling them with affection.
"Y/n, promise me this," Wilbur said softly.
"Yes, my love," y/n replied.
"We'll tell the internet tomorrow," Wilbur requested.
"Okay, let's get the internet to ruin me, why don't you?" y/n joked, nodding in agreement.
"Alright, m'dear, let's head to bed now," Wilbur said, laughing softly.
They climbed into bed together, Wilbur holding y/n close as they both settled in, ready to face whatever the next day would bring, together.
