Hands and lemonade

—--------

Mister Lawrence was a rather mysterious person.

Most of the servants in Sotheby's mansion didn't know where he came from or what he did before he was recruited by Mr. Karson a month ago.

However, based on his tactful etiquette and manners, as well as his vast knowledge in several fields from gardening to medicine, they could be sure that Mister Lawrence was definitely well-educated and may have worked for a house in high social class in the past.

Moreover, he was also a handsome young man that would patiently listen to other problems and give them useful advice.

No one could resist such a kind and charming person like that, right?

That was why many female and even male servants had secretly voted him as the second most favorite person in Sotheby's mansion.

The first place? Of course, no one could surpass their little lady's position in those servants' hearts.

Anyways, Mister Lawrence was always the hot topic of conversations among others. Like the type of cravat or ribbon he wore today, whether he low-tied his hair or not, how elegant he was when eating...

Even Mr. Karson used him as an example for what an ideal butler should be.

"Yet there's something about him that makes me... Hmm, how should I explain? A bit distant."

The maid who handled laundry's work rubbed her chin.

"You mean the arcanist's part?"

The other maid put the white sheet into the washing machine and replied.

"Hey! We have both signed the commitment that we will hold no discrimination, inappropriate attitude and actions towards arcanists."

The young woman suddenly raised her voice, but immediately looked around to see if there was anyone nearby.

"Mr. Karson won't walk on this route at this time of the day,..."

Much to her unpleasantness, her friend sent her a teasing smile.

"...so will Mister Lawrence, you idiot."

Before the young woman began her tickling attack, her friend had quickly stepped back and used a white sheet as her temporary shield.

"I'm just kidding, Leila. If I ever held a single malice towards arcanists, I wouldn't be here, get a high salary per month with free food and a bunch of rest days, as well as have a silly yet warm-hearted friend like you."

While speaking, the maid peeked through the white sheet to see whether her friend dropped her intention to "revenge" or not.

Yet what would come still came.

After some moments of laughter, they returned back to their previous topic.

"So why did you say he made you feel...a bit distant?"

Responding to her was a glance from the maid Leila.

Without thinking further, she raised her hands in surrender.

"Remember the things I told you the other day?"

Leila lowered her head and played with her calloused fingers, as if there was something bothering her mind.

"Which? His sexy hands in white gloves or his luring gentle smile captured your heart?"

In no time, the young maid's face was as red as a ripe tomato.
