SAPPHIRE sat next to mj on the stage, finally the last question was asked and mj got it correct, the entire team cheered and hugged eachother, after their win the group made their way over to the washington monument, sapphire and cindy step into the elevator followed by ned and liz, the elevator gets halfway up when it suddenly stops.
ned threw his backpack on the ground causing sapphire to look up at him with wide eyes, "what was in your bag?" she whisper yells, "this purple thingy." ned tells her, "what purple-." sapphire begins to say before she's cut off by flash telling everyone to look up at the celling.
"we're all going to die in here." abraham says, "we won't die." liz tries to comfort, "we're all fucking screwed." sapphire says, "okay i know that was scary but our safety systems are working." the security lady says.
"you have powers can't you like get us up there." ned whispers, "i can't, my powers aren't strong enough to move everyone." sapphire explains, she could barely lift anything before passing out, and she also couldn't reveal her secret to everyone here.
"we're very safe in here." the security guard says in a monotone voice, "i'm all for optimism and stuff but i don't think we are." sapphire defends, whispering so not everyone could hear her, "are you always so pessimistic?" ned asks her and she just gives a nod.
the lady opens the safety hatch and helps cindy out first, followed by abraham, and then liz was meant to go but flash pushed past and got out, as flash was climbing up the elevator kept shaking, the boy got out and the elevator let go and fell, everyone still in the metal capsule screamed, sapphire tried to stop the elevator but failed.
small purple lines flowed through the lift, slowing it down but not pulling it to a stop, she wasn't strong enough.
something stopped the elevator and sapphire fell to the ground, ned quickly helped her up, she held onto the boy as right as she could, "bloody hell, i'm never going in a lift again." sapphire said, leaning back against the wall.
the lift started to fall again, sapphire let go of the boy and held on as tight as she could to the handle bars, the lift stopped again and peter fell through the hole, "WHAT THE-." sapphire yells but is cut off by the lift falling again, she closed her eyes terrified of what could happen.
luckily peter stopped the lift again, "hey, how you doing don't worry i got you." peter spoke in a new york accent, sapphire was breathing heavily and was leaning on the wall behind her, ned started to cheer making the lift move around a bit, "hey! big guy quit moving around!" peter yelled.
"sorry sir." ned apologised.
peter pulled the lift back up, ned got out first followed by the teacher, and then liz, as sapphire went to step out the lift gave way causing sapphire and the lift the fall down, peter yelled out her name before wrapping a web around sapphires hand, pulling her up, she screamed as peter held onto her, "you're okay, i got you." he comforted before grabbing her hand completely.
he helped her onto the floor, liz grabbed onto her pulling her into a hug, the girl just stayed stiff before awkwardly patting the older girls back, liz let go and sapphire turned around to peter giving him a small smile in thanks before the light gave up and peter fell down.
sapphire stepped near the edge watching the boy fall, "thanks." mr harrington said as peter continued to fall, flash leaned over the edge, "are you really friends with peter parker?" flashed yelled down.
"he'll be okay right?" sapphire questioned, ned just slowly nodded, unsure.

the group got back to the hotel and sapphire immediately looked round for a certain brunette boy, she locked eyes with him before running up to him and pulling him into a hug, sapphire never usually gave people hugs willingly unless she felt like she needed to, so peter was at first taken back by the hug until he carefully hugged the girl back.
"thanks for saving my life." she whispered, "you're welcome." he whispered back, sapphire just let out a small chuckle before leaving the hug.
