"I Just Can't Wait to Be King"

__________________________

Years went by since the ceremony honoring the birth of Haruun Kal's new princess. Everyone was very happy for the royal family for the safe and healthy birth of young Myra. Myra, though, was not an easy child.

Being woken up five times a night when she was a baby, that was the easy part of taking care of her. Mace and Brenda just took turns getting out of bed to feed the baby, change her diaper, rock her, basically take care of whatever she needed, and then go back to bed. And of course there were the joyous moments of all Myra's firsts. Her first crawl, her first steps, and her first word (Jedi). But once she mastered walking and moving around herself, it was another story.

At Pride Rock Palace, on the rock balcony stood a six-year-old girl with black hair tied in two pigtails. She was up before even the sun was up because she was so excited for this particular morning.

Little Myra quickly started to rush down the hall, but was careful not to be too loud when she heard Obi-Wan snoring in his room. As proper and sophisticated as the royal advisor was, he got really cranky if he didn't get his sleep. But then Myra sped up again when she saw her parents' bedroom within view. And she went in.

Sure enough, the king and queen were both still asleep.

"Mom! Dad! Hey, come on! We gotta go! Wake up!" Myra cheered, jumping on the bed, and on her sleepy parents a little. But she got whiny when neither of them would get up. "Mom.... Daddy...."

"Your daughter's awake," sighed Brenda, half-asleep.

"Mom? Dad? Mom? Dad?" Myra repeated over and over.

"Before sunrise she's your daughter." Mace groaned, also half-asleep.

"Dad! Mom! Come on!" Myra started jumping up and down again.

When that didn't work, Myra grabbed a pillow and whacked her parents with it. That got her parents to wake up.

"You promised!" Myra held a stern look on her face.

Myra definitely inherited Brenda's stern face, and combined with her having Mace's eyes, she held that same look in them that made it hard to say no to her.

"Alright, alright, we're up, Baby." Brenda yawned and stretched herself out.

Mace stretched with a lion-sized yawn before getting himself out of bed and getting a robe on.

What was so special about this morning, you may be wondering? Today was the morning Myra would get to have a special morning tour of the kingdom with her parents. Not only was it a special time the young princess would get to have her parents all to herself, but it was when she would have her first lesson about what it would be like when she became queen someday.

Queen Brenda and King Mace brought Myra to the highest point of the entire palace, where the sun's rays shone upon them. Mace held Myra up in his arms so she could get a better view.

Myra's eyes lit up as the sun rose over the horizon. She'd never been allowed to be up early enough to see the sun rising until today; it was perhaps the most beautiful sight she'd ever seen.

"Wow..." the little girl gasped.

"Look, Myra..." said Mace. "Everything the light touches is our kingdom."

"You see, Myra, a queen or a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun." Brenda said.

"One day, Myra, the sun will set on our time here, and will rise with you as the new queen."
