Chapter 31

Athena was up just a few hours later walking around the lower level of the house shushing Hope back to sleep after having fed her. After she fell back to sleep Athena found herself right back at the same window she was at hours before, just staring.

"Athena? Are you okay?" Niklaus touched her shoulder causing her to jump. "Athena?" He asked her again.

"Nik? What is it?" She asked him while making sure the baby was still asleep.

"You were just staring out of the window. Are you okay?" Nik asked her again, this time taking the baby from her arms.

"I've stared out of this window for hours at a time and not once have I noticed anything different. I want to know what she's planning and I want to know it now damn it. This waiting is killing me." Athena yelled and punched the window watching as nothing happened.

"Was that supposed to happen?" Nik asked me, a little shocked.

Athena shook her head and ran up the stairs bursting through Kai's door to find not only him but her daughter in his bed as well. Not dwelling on it she shook him awake and made him come downstairs with her.

"Why am I down here at four in the morning?" Kai asked her in a whiny voice.

"Siphon the window." Athena said and pointed to the window she has been staring at for hours. Kai put his hand on the window and they watched as the outside of the window changed the more he siphoned.

"What the hell?" Nik asked his sister.

"She's making a move." Athena said.

Later that day

"How do you know this is her?" Elijah asked us as we all sat around the living room.

"Who else would it be Elijah? I mean seriously think about it." Athena said to him, "Let's face it Elijah you didn't believe me before and you don't believe me now." She told him.

"Okay guys let's not do this. We know Esther is after us and we know that she has a plan. What we don't know is when she plans to execute the plan she has. She has the element of surprise here people." Damon said.

"Well yeah, but she's outnumbered and she should know it right? If she doesn't then that means we now have the element of surprise, but we have to go into this thinking either or." Stefan said, backing his brother up.

"Okay, let's say we have it. What then? We still don't know her plan to execute her end game which is to get Hope." Jeremy said.

"We don't have it then we fight like hell because there is no way I am letting her get Hope." Tyler said.

"Caroline I need you to take Hope literally anywhere but none of us can know and you can't think of it here. Get in your car and drive, do you understand? Take Enzo, Damon, and Bonnie with you. You three think of a million locations all at the same time never linger on one for too long. Take care of my niece." Athena told them while putting Hope in her carseat and handing it to Damon. 

"Athena calm down, we will end this and when we do, you are going to marry us." Tyler told her.

Jeremy came up behind her, "Yeah what he said." He kissed her cheek and held her close.

"I never gave either of you an answer." Athena reminded them.

"So is that a no?" Jeremy asked her.

"Well no, but," Athena started.

"Then it is a "I will think about it," answer right?" Tyler asked with hope in his voice.

Athena sighed, "When this is taken care of and done, I will give you an answer. Until then let's focus on making this house and town safe for my niece." She said, and walked upstairs to their room.

Niklaus walked into her room, "They asked you to marry them?" He asked her.

Athena nodded, "Yep, last night." She replied.

"You didn't say yes?" He asked her, "Why not?" He asked her again.

"Nik come on I mean you just got married and had a kid, I don't want to steal the attention from you or Hope. I love them, I do, but we haven't been together that long you know. It's just, what if they leave?" Athena sounded more vulnerable now than she has in over a thousand years.

Nik sighed, "Athena, those two love you more than words can describe. They wouldn't leave you even if you wanted them to." He said to her and pulled her into a hug. "Now go down there and tell them that you want to marry them." He told her and laughed as she stuck her tongue out and walked out of the room.

While walking down the hallway she stopped and turned around walking to her daughter's room and knocked on the door, going in after hear a faint "yes" from inside. "You and Kai?" She asked Davina as she opened the door causing the girl to blush.

"I like him." Davina told her mother, causing Athena to smile and walk away closing the door behind her.

As she made it downstairs she walked over to Jeremy and kissed him before doing the same to Tyler, "I assume you have my ring already?" She asked them to which they both nodded. "Good because I'm gonna need it if I'm gonna marry you two idiots." She said, causing them to look at her with shock and happiness.

They both leapt up and wrapped her in a hug and kissed her. As they laughed the night away two things were still on their minds. What was Esther's plan and who was helping her?
