Does It Feel Alright To Not Know Me?

AN: HI! I'm so sorry. I got stressed working on my dissertation and honestly couldn't write anything except that for the past month. BUT! I finally submitted it earlier this month, so I'm done! Now I'm just stressing about what my grade is lol. It took me a while to get this out because I couldn't look at my computer or a word document again for a few weeks after writing 20k words and submitting lol but here we are! I promise the next update isn't going to take as long as this one!

June 2016

She leaves the hospital 2 days later after the doctor insists on another round of scans to make sure nothing is wrong with her brain. Theo is glad that she's home, he hasn't come to the hospital after that first day and she knows it's because he didn't want to risk another encounter with Travis.

Travis Kelce. She still can't believe he's back in her life. She thought it was a hallucination when she woke back up after their first conversation, she didn't remember falling asleep, but she woke back up a few hours later and it was dark, and he wasn't sitting in the chair anymore, but Jason was, so she thought she imagined it for a few minutes.

"He left when I showed up" Jason said after he noticed that she was awake and pointed to the small bedside table, "left his number, told me to tell you to call him whenever you're ready to talk"

"Did he schedule his surgery?" She asked Jason after clearing her throat

"Yeah, tomorrow morning. I'm going to stay with him for a few days after and then I have to go back to Philly" Jason tells her "I'm trying to convince him to come with me or at least back to Ohio with mom, he can't go back to KC alone, he needs someone to take care of him the first few weeks until he's mobile enough" he explains, beyond exasperated with his younger brother.

"He's staying in Nashville" she tells Jason.

"What?" Jason asks with a raised eyebrow

"I don't know," she answered with a shrug "he says he wants to try with Theo, so he's staying in Nashville because I'm staying in Nashville"

"Are you sure?" he asks

"Yeah, at least that's what he said, who knows with Travis, he might change his mind tomorrow" she said.

And that was the end of the conversation, she was still tired so she told Jason she'll go back to sleep, and he can leave if he wants to, she felt protected with the amount of police officers outside her room, but he refused and stayed with her. They rotated after that, sometimes her mom stayed, sometimes Jason, other time Donna stayed for a few hours, but she knew that Donna was busy with Travis who never came to see her again or called. He left his phone number and waited for her to call. She understood, he had the surgery and then he had to recover from it, so she gave him a few days before she decided to call.

A week after she left the hospital she sat down with Theo in the living room at Andrea's house. She didn't know how to start this conversation with him, but she knew it needed to happen before she called Travis.

"Theo, I need to talk to you about something" she finally said as she muted the TV. He was watching some cartoon that she really wasn't paying any attention to.

"What mama? Are we going back to New York?" he asked as he turned to face her

"No baby, we're going to be staying in Nashville for a while, we'll go back to our place in a few days, grandma just wants us to stay here with her to make sure we're ok after what happens, you know how she worries" she explains, and he nods his head
