Author's POV
As Aayansh slowly regains consciousness, the first thing he hears is the sound of himself murmuring a name “Radhi…”
The name seems to linger in the air as he tries to open his heavy eyelids, only to be hit by a sharp, throbbing pain in his head. He winces, bringing his hand to his temple.
When he looks around, he realizes he’s in an unfamiliar room,a hospital room.
Suddenly, he remembers everything in flashes. The phone call, the moment his phone slipped from his hand, and then darkness.
He feels his pulse quicken as fragments of the accident float to the surface of his memory.
But before he can piece it all together, he notices a familiar figure asleep on the sofa next to him. His sister, Anisha.
“Radhi… where’s Radhi?” Aayansh mumbles again, his voice barely above a whisper.
Anisha stirs from her sleep at the sound of her brother’s voice. She blinks in confusion for a moment, then, realizing Aayansh is awake, she rushes over to his side.
“Bhai! You’re awake!” she exclaims, her voice filled with relief, but Aayansh cuts her off.
“How… how did I get here?” he asks, his mind still clouded by the weight of his injuries.
“I was… I was on a call and then…” His voice trails off as the events of the night begin to piece themselves together. He recalls the accident, the screech of tires, the terrifying impact.
But as soon as he tries to speak again, another thought floods his mind. “Wait, what did you tell me? Last night… on the phone? You said something… about Radhi… Where is she?”
At the mention of Radhi, Anisha hesitates. She takes a deep breath, visibly uncomfortable, before handing Aayansh a glass of water.
“Bhai, calm down first. You’ve been unconscious for a week. Your accident… it wasn’t just last night. You’ve been here, in the hospital, all this time.”
Aayansh ignores the glass of water, his voice now urgent and demanding. “No, tell me. What happened? Where’s Radhi? What were you saying to me that night?”
Anisha looks away, struggling to find the right words. “Bhai…” she begins slowly, choosing each word with caution, “Bhabhi… Radhi… She left. We haven’t heard from her since. No one has.”
The words hit Aayansh like a punch to the gut. “She left?” he repeats, disbelieving. “Why would she leave? Where is she? What happened?”
Anisha meets his eyes, her own filled with concern.
“That’s what we’ve been trying to figure out. She left the night of your accident, and we haven’t been able to contact her since. Her phone’s switched off. She packed her things and… she just disappeared.”
“What do you mean she packed her things and left?” Aayansh’s voice rises in frustration. “Why would she leave? Did something happen between us?”
Anisha shifts uncomfortably, clearly torn. “Bhai, only you would know that… Did something happen between you two? Did you… did you say something to her? How could things have gotten this bad?”
“Packed and left? What do you mean packed and left? Why?” Aayansh asks, his voice rising with confusion and frustration.
Anisha looks at him, her eyes filled with concern. “Bhai, I don’t know the full reason. But something must have happened between you two. She packed all her things and left the house the night of your accident. We haven’t heard from her since.”
