The house was too quiet. Joe had left three days ago, claiming he needed space, and Taylor hadn't heard from him since. Every time she walked through the empty rooms, the silence felt heavier, like it was pressing down on her chest, making it hard to breathe. She tried to throw herself into her work—writing, recording, anything to fill the void. But it was no use. The songs wouldn't come, and every time she picked up her guitar, her fingers froze on the strings. All she could think about was the last time she had seen Travis. The kiss, the warmth of his arms around her, the way he had held her as though he was the only one keeping her from falling apart.
Her phone buzzed, snapping her out of her thoughts. She grabbed it quickly, her heart pounding, hoping it was Joe. But it wasn't.

Abigail
Hey, are you okay? Haven't heard from you in a while. Coffee later?Taylor sighed and typed back a quick reply.
You
Yeah, let's do it. Usual spot at 3?She put her phone down, running her fingers through her hair. She needed to talk to someone, anyone, about what was going on inside her head. Abigail was her closest friend, the one who always had her back, but even she didn't know the full extent of the mess Taylor was in.
Because it wasn't just about Joe anymore. It was about Travis, too.
She had always thought of him as her friend, someone she could lean on when things got tough. But lately, something had shifted between them, something she wasn't sure how to handle. The lines had blurred, and now she wasn't sure where friendship ended and something more began.

The coffee shop was quiet when Taylor arrived, the afternoon light streaming through the windows. She spotted Abigail sitting at their usual table, sipping on her latte and scrolling through her phone. When she looked up and saw Taylor, her face lit up with a smile.
"Hey, you," Abigail greeted her, standing up to give her a hug. "It's been too long."
"Yeah," Taylor said, her voice sounding hollow even to her own ears. "It has."
They sat down, and Abigail's smile faded as she studied Taylor's face. "Okay, what's going on? You look... I don't know, different."
Taylor stared into her coffee cup, unsure where to begin. She had been avoiding this conversation for days, but now that she was sitting here with Abigail, there was no escaping it.
"Joe and I are... on a break," she said finally, the words tasting bitter in her mouth.
Abigail's eyes widened. "What? Since when?"
"A few days ago. It's been coming for a while," Taylor admitted, stirring her coffee absently. "He's been distant, and we've been growing apart. I don't know... I don't know if we can fix it."
Abigail reached across the table, placing her hand over Taylor's. "I'm so sorry, Tay. I didn't know things had gotten that bad."
Taylor nodded, feeling the familiar sting of tears behind her eyes, but she blinked them away. "There's more."
Abigail's brow furrowed in concern. "More?"
Taylor took a deep breath, knowing she had to say it out loud. "There's someone else. I didn't mean for it to happen, but... Travis."
"Travis? Like, Travis Kelce Travis?" Abigail's jaw dropped.
Taylor nodded, her heart racing. "I think i'm liking him. I don't know it just... happened. I didn't plan it, but I can't stop thinking about him. And I don't know what to do."
