Mei: This place… There’s no way it was here before the Honkai invasion
Tesla: It’s probably built after the disaster. These kids couldn’t have built this place by themselves, so they had outside help. The Sensei must be the one…
Mei: Yeah. We have to ask about this ‘Sensei’
When they looked ahead, they saw Sora being surrounded by other children, all around her age. It seems that they were worried for her since she was gone for a while.
Mei, Akiri, and Tesla then approached Sora.
Mei: Sora, can you tell us more about your Sensei?
Sora: Of course. Sensei saved everyone here and she owns the Roost. She’s very kind and beautiful
Akiri: Any more you can tell us?
Sora: Um… She built this place three years ago. She’s not here often but always comes back with food and strange presents. When she’s gone we’d usually go into the city and scavenge for things that we could add to the emergency stockpile
Mei: The city? Wouldn’t that be dangerous?
Sora: Sensei created a “safe zone” where we can safely venture. Some didn’t like to scavenge but we got used to it
Akiri: That’s still not telling us a lot…
When he said that, Sora hung her head low apologetically.
Sora: Sorry…
Mei: It’s okay. Do you know when she will be back? We want to ask her a few questions
Sora: Sensei should’ve been back yesterday, and it’s making me worried as well… I tried looking for her this morning, but accidentally left the safe zone. The beasts chased me and I fell off a building…
Akiri: And that’s when we found you, huh?
Sora nodded.
Sora: Can I ask you about the questions you have for our Sensei?
Mei: Akiri, Dr. Tesla and I came here to look for a lost friend. It's a long story…
Sora: Oh, you mean the person Akiri-sama asked me about earlier? I'm sorry I can't be of help
Akiri: It's alright. You shouldn't apologize for that
He offers the young girl and assuring smile.
Sora: Maybe you can ask the others? If she was in the area, they might have spotted her
Tesla: The chances are low, but it won't hurt to try, I guess. In the meantime, I’ll go set up another scanner here
Akiri: Alright. Let's get to it then
Mei nodded in agreement as they then went around the settlement, asking the other children if they had seen Kiana around.
A few minutes passed, a few dozen children were asked, and they all gave the same answer. None of the children had spotted the girl they were looking for anywhere.
Mei was the first to go back to where Tesla was, and she saw that the doctor had the scanner set up and was studying the screen. The redhead then noticed Mei walking up to her.
Tesla: Any luck?
Mei: No…
Mei looked disheartened, even though she knew the kids weren't likely to have seen Kiana, she was still disappointed.
Tesla: I’m not seeing anything from the scans either. She's probably not around here. Which leaves the west side of the city to be checked
Mei: Yeah. We should probably get ready to head there now
