The Blood Rose Pack

After driving for one week, she arrived at the Blood Rose Pack and was amazed at how beautiful the territory was. Breckenridge was located at the base of the Rocky Mountains' Tenmile Range. A Victorian core of a former mining town with candy-colored painted buildings along Main Street from the 1880s and '90s. She drove up to the gate and the guard came over to the driver's side to talk to her.

"How can I help you, miss."

"I am here to see Alpha Sebastian and Luna Siena Collins. I am their daughter."

"Wait for a minute. I will get someone to come and help you."

The guard called the Alpha and explained to him who was at the gate asking for Alpha Sebastian. The Alpha walked down to the gate and came over to talk to Serena.

"Hello, Serena, I am your uncle Joshua. If you do not mind my riding with you to the house, we have a lot of things to talk about."

 Serena unlocked the passenger door and Joshua got into the car. The short ride up to the house was silent but it changed as soon as they arrived at the house. They walked in and Joshua escorted her to the living room and asked her to sit. Joshua looked at her and sighed deeply.

 "Serena, I had dreaded this day. Do not get me wrong, I am glad you are here. You have grown into a beautiful woman. You know that your parents gave you up for your protection. Your parents were being hunted. Well actually, they wanted your mother but knew not without killing your father. No wolf would allow any harm to their mates and the Alpha is even more protective of his Luna. They managed to get you to the orphanage in time because they were killed two days later. I am Sebastian's brother and became the new Alpha."

"But why, uncle, did they want to kill my parents? Who are they?"

"Your mother had some special abilities that were coveted by other witches. You will have them too. Your mother was able to teleport, not only from one place to another but also into other realms. Your mother came from the Night Shadow Coven, and they always wanted her to leave the Alpha and come back to them. Of course, that was not going to happen because they were true mates. Your mother was a special witch with abilities that the coven did not want out of their sight. They killed her for the powers that they were not able to take, and my brother died protecting her. Now, you are the true heir to this pack, and I am willing to step down for you."

"No, uncle, I did not come to displace anyone. I do not wish to be Alpha. All I want is to get to know you and spend time with you, and any other family I might have left." Joshua came over to where Serena was sitting pulled her up and hugged her. She was his brother's daughter in every sense of the word.

"Let's get you settled at your parent's house. I have kept it maintained for the day you would return."

After Serena took a shower and changed into clean clothes, she went to search for Joshua so that they could talk some more. She found him in his office staring at a picture of her mother and father.

"Uncle Josh, are you free or do you want me to come back?"

"No sweetheart, come in. I was just thinking about your parents and getting my thoughts together. This is my favorite picture of your mom and dad. I missed them so much."

"I look like my mother, but I see some of Dad's features in me too. I am so sorry that I did not get to meet them. I have the letter they left for me at the orphanage. My parents, adoptive parents, gave it to me on my eighteenth birthday."

"Yes, I know. We sat together to discuss what they should say in your letter."

"My parents are human, and I was raised as one. Now, I find out that my father was a wolf and my mother a witch. I know they exist, but never met one, or at least one who would tell me what they were. Is this why I felt like I could not sleep with a boy?"

"Most she-wolves save themselves for their true mates. Is this the feeling you had?"

"Yes, like I had to save myself for my wedding night. I lost a lot of boyfriends that way. My last tried to force himself on me recently, saying that after one year together his proposal to get engaged would give him that right. Even though I wanted to, a voice in my head kept telling me no."

"Do you hear a voice in your head kind of guiding you on important decisions?"

"Yes, for the last two years."

"That is your wolf. She has not introduced herself to you, but she is close to the surface."

"What does that mean, Uncle Josh, am I going to turn into a wolf?"

"If your father's genes are dominant in you, yes. Some mixed breeds do not."

"How will I know if I have my mother's powers? Will they appear out of nowhere, and then I will be a witch like in Hocus Pocus?"

"I am not sure how it works, but I have a witch that helps my pack that you can talk to about it. She was your mother's best friend."

"How does it work with the boyfriend thing?"

"They are called mates. The Goddess chooses a mate for each wolf. When you turn eighteen, you will smell his scent that will lead you to him."

"Uncle Josh, I have something to tell you. I went to a club back home where I met a boy. He came out of nowhere, put his arms around me, and started dancing with me. I smelled a forest after rain, woodsy musk, and sandalwood, and here he was dancing with me. I thought was cologne. It was an instant attraction, and we had sex. He acted like I was the best thing that happened to him. When he saw I was a virgin, he said that he was one too. Unfortunately, he left the club without saying goodbye, and I just found out that I was six weeks pregnant. Could he have been my mate but did not want to be with a human?"

"Sometimes Alphas do not want to accept a human mate. They think that their Luna should be a she-wolf who can rule side by side with them."

"But you said the Goddess created their mates. He should accept me whether I am human or not. Now he will never know that I am carrying his child after just one night."

"Alphas can get their mates pregnant right away. Any woman, human or wolf, cannot get pregnant by an Alpha unless she's his second-chance mate. That is why it happened so quickly. He accepted you by mating with you, but the rational side of him would think that you will not be strong enough to be Luna."

"Well, I am staying here with my pack so I can learn our ways and raise my child. I hope someday we will find each other again and he will see me for what I am. I am afraid of telling him that I am only half-wolf because he might run off again."

"If that day comes, you will have to give him a chance to explain his reason for leaving you."

Serena dedicated herself to getting to know her pack and even worked with Joshua to learn Alpha's responsibilities. On her visits to the doctor, she found out that she was having a boy, and a few months later she had Aiden. She called Jackie every week and talked for about an hour to catch up on everything back home. Then, one day it happened. Caleb was looking for her and found Jackie at the club. She got that call from Jackie that Caleb wanted to talk to her and knew that he had a son.
