-Emma-
"Why father? Why? None of the princes would ever want me!" I shouted at him, almost horrified. He looked at me in shock; I had never shouted at my father before.
I realized that now too and slapped a hand over my mouth to stop myself from saying anything stupid.
"Father. I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to." He slowly got up from his golden throne and walked down to me.
"Emma Hakonson, Princess of Vanaheim. I know it's hard for you, my sunshine. But please, I have had long talks with the All-Father Odin. YOU will marry a prince from Asgard! That's what the law says. You will have one year to decide. And now, pack your things! You'll be on your way at dawn."
I nodded, bowed to my father and walked out of the throne room as fast as my delicate feet could carry me. I ran through the corridors to my chamber. I tore open the door and threw myself onto my bed.
"Princess? Are you all right?" I heard the soft voice of my maid. I lifted my head and looked at her, she was standing uncertainly in front of my bed, yet she is one of my best friends here and knew about all my suffering and my secrets.
"Lora. Why don't you sit with me? You also know exactly how I'm feeling." I admitted dejectedly. She smiled and sat down next to me, gently patted my arms and said:
"It's because of the marriage to one of the princes of Asgard, isnt it?" I nodded.
"You know what I think of Asgard. They're conceited, stuck-up, self-absorbed and egotistical. Especially the two princes," I groaned, annoyed. I was never a fan of Asgard and Asgard's princes, I didn't hear much about them, but what I did hear shocked me in many cases. It was almost never anything good that I heard. "I know how you feel about it. But I want to tell you to make up your own mind about Asgard and especially about the princes. I've heard that the crown prince and heir to the throne, Thor, is very attractive." she tried to cheer me up. It helped a little. "And the other prince?" "Well. He's supposed to be very secretive and emotionally cold." Emotionally cold? Not so favourable when you have to get married. "We'll see about that. But now we should pack. We're leaving tomorrow morning," I decided and more or less voluntarily got up. "I was just going to suggest that too, Princess," Lora smiled and we packed some clothes. I don't know why I need so many clothes, I'm assuming that I'll get some there, after all, I'll be staying there for at least a year. After we'd finished packing, I went to sleep. And I was more than excited to meet the princes tomorrow.
-------(next morning)----------
"Emma! I will really miss you my sunshine. Since the death of your mother, you have been the only important person in my life. I hope you'll come and visit me sometime, well, if there is to be a marriage, I'll see you there at the latest." My father, King Hakon of Vanaheim, said goodbye to me and hugged me tightly. "Father. We'll see each other for a few more hours and the farewell won't be forever." I encouraged him and hugged him tightly again before I left and we walked to the palace of Asgard together. It was a truly impressive palace, and Asgard looked beautiful too, but the people who lived here weren't supposed to be so nice, at least the royal family, but I'd never heard anything about whether the common people were like that.
When we arrived at the palace, we were greeted and welcomed by two guards, who took us into the throne room to the royal family of Asgard a little later. And there they all stood, the Allfather Odin on his magnificent throne, next to him the Allmother Frigga, on the right side of the stairs the heir to the throne Thor and on the left side of the stairs, the "callous" Loki.
It was truly a beautiful sight, the All-Father and the All-Mother smiled at us in a friendly manner, the two princes were really attractive and good to look at, standing upright and self-confident. But... they seemed disinterested. Loki had averted his eyes, just like his brother, who was playing with his crossed fingers in front of his stomach. I rolled my eyes slightly, I didn't feel like doing anything like that either, but that's not why I look as grumpy as the two snooty princes! "King Hokun and his enchanting daughter Princess Emma! How nice that you're finally here!" Odin greeted us and smiled. Okay, I didn't think he would greet us so warmly. But well, "Allfather! How nice to see you again!" exclaimed my father, he and Odin had known each other for a long time and were probably something like friends. I curtseyed, as was proper, and Odin and Frigga nodded their heads slightly in recognition. Frigga looked sternly at her sons for a moment and then they also nodded briefly at me. They couldn't even produce a slight smile. How charming...
Odin, Frigga and Father went for a walk together through the royal garden. I, Thor and Loki stayed behind. "I'm going to train. Loki, you too?" Thor announced in his deep voice and walked towards the door. Loki shook his head. "No. Someone has to show the princess around," he grumbled. I strongly assume that Frigga or Odin told him to look after me or something like that. "I can manage on my own." I spat back. Why be friendly if you're not friendly yourself? Loki sighed and rolled his eyes. "Just come with me. It's my duty to show you round. While my honoured brother goes to train!" He threw the last sentence at Thor. Thor grumbled something under his breath and disappeared. I turned to Loki for the first time and looked him in the eye. And... Wow... he had damn beautiful eyes, they were so deep you could lose yourself in them. "You're staring." he remarked and grinned mischievously. God! Even that grin was beautiful. I didn't even reply, but turned away and walked towards the double doors, where Thor had disappeared through earlier.
"Are you coming?" I asked, slightly annoyed. But all I heard was a laugh, a very nice laugh, from Loki. "Wrong direction princess, I think you don't want to go to the training ground straight away but want to visit your room first? Am I right?" I rolled my eyes, turned on my heel and went after Loki. "My room is right next to yours," Loki remarked after we had been on our way to my room for a while. "Interesting," I replied curtly.
"And here we are...." Loki announced, opening a beautifully decorated door and letting me peek into the room. Just as he was about to turn away to leave, I stopped him. "Wait!" I grabbed his wrist at the last moment, goose bumps instantly forming on my skin, but I was successful, he stopped. I was also sure that the blush had shot up my face, because when he saw my face, he grinned slightly. "L-loki? Why-m are you so interested all of a sudden? When we arrived, I had the strong feeling that you were disinterested. "He scratched his head for a moment, embarrassed. Once again on the subject of cold feelings. He doesn't look like that at all, he seems level-headed and deeply relaxed instead of cold and withdrawn. "I saw you and your incredible beauty and changed my mind." he grinned mischievously.
