Returning to work after the shooting was a daunting task. Lucy was eager to get back into the field, but her recovery meant she had to take things slowly. Her supervisors, understanding her situation, eased her back into a more manageable workload.

Her first day back on duty was filled with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. The precinct was bustling as usual, but the familiar sights and sounds felt both comforting and overwhelming.

Lucy's colleagues greeted her warmly, but she could sense their concern and curiosity about her condition. As she settled into her desk, she was met with a mountain of paperwork—cases she had missed during her absence.

One of her colleagues, Officer Nolan, stopped by her desk, his expression serious. "How are you holding up, Lucy?"

She looked up, forcing a reassuring smile. "I'm doing okay. Just taking it one step at a time."

Nolan nodded, his eyes full of understanding. "If you need anything, just let us know. We're here to support you."

Lucy appreciated the offer, though she wasn't ready to admit how much she still needed support. She was determined to prove herself, but she also knew her limits.
