I kept replaying that moment from that night in my head  over and over again. I kept remembering the way he smelled like expensive cologne, and how warm his embrace was that it made me forget my feet were cold. The texture of the fabric of his suit was truly heavenly, only money could buy that. Every time I found myself thinking about it, I'd try to ground myself in reality telling myself, it wasn't like that. But my mind told me it truly felt like that. I knew if I told Rose what had happened she would freak out. So I told her a half truth, that it was pleasant and that I surprised to see Alice and Xoey there.

When I told her it was Xoey's sister getting engaged the first words out of her mouth were, "Nuh uh shut the fuck up. Xoey's sister? I didn't even know she had a sister." Frankly I was surprised myself. So that wasn't a lie.

That following Monday, in first period English Mrs. Wilson assigned us a project. The project was deciphering Shakespeare's works like "Much Ado About Nothing."  "Romeo & Juliet" "A Midsummer's Night Dream." "Macbeth" "As You Like It" "King Lear" etc. She essentially gave us a book report on Shakespeare which is not like a big deal (A bit of a lazy assignment) the problem lies with that who she partnered me up with.

Mrs. Wilson had partnered me up with Xoey and we were to decipher "A Midsummer's Night Dream." Then she partnered Rose with Wayne and they were gonna decipher "Romeo & Juliet."  I knew the two were pleasant around each other at his party but I still worried that they were gonna kill each other. After class I went up to Mrs. Wilson and asked,

"Can I switch partners? Please?" I was begging to be partners with anyone else but Xoey. She shook her head "No."

"Absolutely not, you either work with your partner or you fail the assignment." She said firmly.

"Fuck." I thought to myself.

So now I was stuck with working with Xoey. The project required us to go over to each other's houses, which for Wayne was not exactly ideal for him to go to Rose's because of Alice. I walked over to Xoey and told her flat out,

"Soo I know the project is due like in a few days, I figure if we knock this out in a day, we can just move on with our lives." Xoey gestured for my phone and she added her number in my phone. She tossed my phone back to me, and said,

"Let's get this over with, you can come to my house after school. I'll text you the address." She seemed very disinterested in this project. I thought she wanted to get it done as fast as humanly possible so I shrugged it off. I honestly didn't think much of it.

Xoey was not really thinking about a stupid book report on Shakespheare. What she was really thinking about was about the way Daniel kissed her sister, and how they looked so genuinely happy. She was envious of Xiomara, she was in love with Daniel and she wanted Daniel to be in love with her. Xoey spent most of the day daydreaming about what if Daniel had not dated Xiomara and instead dated her. She thought about Daniel being off at college while she was working towards graduating early and going to the same college as him. She thought long and hard about what life would be like if it was her and not Xiomara. In fact that's all she could think about ever since they announced their engagement.

After school Wayne drove Rose to his house. She described it as empty and very echoey. She also described their interaction as awkward as they read through every single line of Romeo & Juliet.

"Ugh this is so boring." She groaned. Wayne closed the book and said,

"Isn't like Juliet fourteen and Romeo is seventeen? That's sounds like super illegal." He said to Rose.
