It was Aidan's 21st birthday, and Y/n had secretly arrived at his house early in the morning, thanks to Aidan's mother. Living a bit far away, she had decided to stay over to make the day special.
She had heard from Aidan's mom that he was still sleeping after a long night working on his music, so Y/n slipped into the kitchen, determined to surprise him with a homemade cake. Baking was her specialty, and she couldn't wait to show him her love through it.
As she gathered the ingredients, the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow in the kitchen. Mixing flour, sugar, and eggs, she felt a rush of excitement. Aidan's 21st birthday deserved something memorable, and she was ready to make it happen.
With the cake in the oven, Y/n glanced at the large gift box she had placed on the couch. Inside was a vintage vinyl of one of Aidan's favorite albums, but even more special was the memory album she had created. Filled with photos, notes, and mementos from their time together, it captured the essence of their relationship. She hoped it would show just how much he meant to her.
Just as the cake was ready to be frosted, she heard footsteps approaching. Y/n turned quickly, signaling to Aidan's mom, who peeked around the corner with a knowing smile.
Aidan appeared, rubbing sleep from his eyes, a lazy smile spreading across his face as he took in the scene. "What’s going on?" he asked, clearly surprised but leaning into the moment as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.
"Happy birthday!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement. "I wanted to do something special for you."
He let out a low chuckle, glancing around at the cake and gifts. "You did all this? I mean, I woke up to a party, huh?"
"Of course! I couldn’t let your 21st go by without a celebration," she replied, stepping back to give him space. "Make a wish before you blow out the candles."
Aidan smirked, leaning in to blow out the candles, and she felt her heart race at the sight of his playful grin. After the last flicker of flame faded, he turned to her, curiosity sparkling in his eyes. "What’s in the box?"
"Open it and see!" she urged, excitement bubbling over.
As he carefully unwrapped the gifts, she held her breath. When he pulled out the vinyl, his eyes widened, and a grin spread across his face. "No way! This is awesome! How’d you know?"
"I remembered you mentioning it once. I thought it would be perfect for you," she said, relief flooding through her at his reaction.
But Aidan's gaze drifted to the memory album. "And this?" he asked, his tone shifting to one of genuine warmth.
Y/n smiled, handing it to him. "It’s a collection of our moments together—photos, notes, everything that’s made our time special. I wanted to capture it all."
Aidan opened the album, flipping through the pages filled with snapshots of laughter, adventures, and quiet moments. His expression softened as he took it all in. "This is really something, Y/n. I can’t believe you put this together."
Her heart swelled at his words. "I wanted you to know how much you mean to me."
He stepped closer, a relaxed smile on his face. "You really made my birthday special. Thanks for this."
In that moment, surrounded by the warmth of the morning light and the joy of the occasion, Y/n felt a deeper connection spark between them. Aidan reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers, and she knew that this birthday celebration was just the beginning of many more beautiful moments together. Staying over had turned out to be the best decision she could have made.
