The Slytherin common room was alive with the hum of a party that stretched late into the night. The green and silver banners glowed under the low light, and the sounds of laughter, chatter, and clinking goblets echoed off the walls. It was a typical gathering for Slytherins — intense, exclusive, and filled with a kind of confident energy that only Slytherin House could manage.

Y/n Rosewood was perched on one of the plush emerald couches, chatting with Pansy, Daphne, and the boys. Her eyes darted toward the door every so often, waiting for the one person who never showed up to these parties.

Five Hargreeves, who had somehow found himself transported into the world of Hogwarts, had been sorted into Slytherin—though he never seemed to fit the typical mold of the House. He wasn't one for parties, or socializing, for that matter, and his wit, cold demeanor, and intelligence often kept him at a distance from the other students. Yet, Y/n had taken a special liking to him. They shared a quiet understanding—both dangerous in their own ways and more clever than anyone gave them credit for.

Tonight, though, she had managed to convince him to join her at the party, something no one else had ever been able to do.

As the door to the common room creaked open, the music slowed for just a moment, and all eyes turned. Five walked in, his usual calm, calculated expression on his face, but the intensity of his presence seemed to quiet the room for just a second.

Y/n smiled, sitting up straighter. "You made it," she said, her voice holding a hint of victory.

Five glanced at her, giving a slight nod. "I'm here, aren't I?" His tone was dry, but Y/n could see the small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

However, what she hadn't accounted for was the sudden shift in attention. The Slytherin boys—Mattheo Riddle, Theodore Nott, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, and Lorenzo Berkshire—had been lounging on the other couches, sipping firewhiskey and talking amongst themselves. But now, their eyes flickered over to Five, sizing him up, their gazes sharp and critical.

Mattheo raised an eyebrow, leaning back in his seat as his eyes traveled from Five to Y/n. "So, this is the guy who's stolen your attention, huh?"

His tone was teasing, but there was a distinct edge to it, like he was annoyed that Y/n had found someone outside their usual circle.

Theo smirked, giving Five an exaggerated once-over. "He doesn't look like much of a party guy," he added, crossing his arms, the mischievous glint in his eyes evident.

Draco was quieter, his icy blue eyes narrowing just slightly as he assessed Five. It wasn't like Y/n to bring someone new into their fold, and even though he didn't say anything outright, the look in his eyes said enough. Blaise leaned over to Lorenzo, whispering something under his breath before both of them gave a small chuckle, their gaze lingering on Five with a mix of curiosity and amusement.

But Five was entirely unfazed. If he noticed the attention he was getting, he didn't show it. He was used to standing out, though perhaps not in this particular way.

Y/n shot a warning look at the boys before standing and walking over to Five, linking her arm through his. "Come on, don't mind them," she said softly, steering him toward her usual spot.

"You sure know how to make an entrance," she teased once they sat down.

"They're just mad I'm here," Five replied smoothly, his eyes briefly glancing at the Slytherin boys who were still watching them like hawks.

Blaise, ever the instigator, leaned forward, his eyes gleaming. "So, what's the story with you, Hargreeves? Never seen you at one of these before."

Five shrugged nonchalantly, taking a sip of the drink Y/n handed him. "I don't see the point in pointless social gatherings."
