3 And A Half Years Later
Today is finally the day of our big ceremony! Once a year, the boarding school has a ceremony for upcoming events and fun stuff like that, but they're too lazy to do 2 ceremonies for each side of the school, so they turn it into one and keep the boys on one side and the girls on the other because this boarding school had two sections, one for the boys, and one for the girls.
Every year, my best friend, Cleo, waves to her crush. We haven't found out his name yet but we sit by the isle each year, in hopes he'll sit there too.
Today is her lucky day. Turns out Chris, who I see once a year is also sitting next to him. I watch them look around the big conference room, its large lights on the ceiling, and the basic patterns on the carpet.
The room is so big it fits the whole boarding school.
Black chairs are on every corner and in every open spot except for the large stage with the big microphone. When I look back at the 2 boys, they're looking back at us.
I wave at Chris with a smile, I miss him.
He waves back but with some surprise on his face. I think it's because he doesn't expect to see me right next to him.
Cleo waves to her blonde boy with the brown eyes and freckles, that's when we hear the principals voice.
"Students! Students! Attention, eyes up here please."
Most of the students around us stop talking and look up, others still ogling some of the guys on the other side.
"We are going to try something new at this ceremony and combine the boys and the girls as we have very interesting information to inform you about."
There is a lot of talk throughout the room. All the girls hoping they get a cute guy to sit next to. The teachers come by and help us move the chairs so that there are no isles separating the boys and the girls anymore.
I end up sitting between my brother and this guy with brown fluffy hair, and black eyes.
Cleo is sitting next to him on the other side, and next to her crush, which somehow between the seconds of us all moving together, she has already rested her head on his shoulder.
This is a new sight to see, I don't even think I remember how to act around boys anymore.
"Claire it's so good to see you!"
I forgot Chris was sitting next to me, but then he gave me a hug and I was reminded once again of how hard it is to be separated from the person you have spent most of your whole life with.
"Chris," I breathe into his neck, and I forget we're in this big conference room.
"Claire, I've missed you so much, I can't live any longer without my twin sis."
