Aarohi was seated in her office, focused on the stack of case files before her. The usual hum of the hospital sounded in the background, but her mind was engrossed in the details of the surgery she was planning for the following day. Her concentration broke when Dr. Mehera, her longtime colleague and friend, entered with a bright smile, carrying two steaming cups of coffee.
"Thought you could use a pick-me-up," Dr. Mehera said, placing one cup in front of her. He leaned against the doorframe, his expression full of humor. "And brace yourself, Malhotra wants to see you."
Aarohi rolled her eyes, taking a sip of the coffee. "What does he want this time?" she asked, half expecting another round of banter or some unnecessary lecture.
Dr. Mehera chuckled, watching her carefully as she took another sip of the coffee. "Aaru, that coffee is literally boiling," he said, raising an eyebrow. "How are you drinking it like that?"
Aarohi shrugged nonchalantly, taking another sip as if the scalding heat didn't bother her in the slightest. "It's fine. I've gotten used to it. Coffee doesn't wait for anyone."
Dr. Mehera blinked at her, incredulous. "You and Dr. Malhotra... seriously, sometimes I wonder if you're siblings from another planet. Both of you with your strange habits."
Aarohi laughed, setting her cup down for a moment. "Siblings? Hardly. I can't stand him most of the time."
"Yet, somehow, you both have the same bizarre tolerance for burning hot beverages and always seem to be butting heads about everything," Dr. Mehera pointed out with a smirk. "You're more alike than you think."
Aarohi wrinkled her nose at the thought. "That's terrifying. Please don't say that again."
Dr. Mehera chuckled again, shaking his head as he looked at her with a mix of amusement and admiration. "Still, Aaru, you two have something in common—whether it's the coffee or your endless need to argue about literally everything."
"Great," Aarohi muttered sarcastically, taking another sip of the coffee. "Just what I needed—another reminder that Malhotra and I are somehow linked by strange, cosmic forces."
Dr. Mehera crossed his arms and grinned. "You'll survive, I'm sure. But seriously, he said he needs to talk to you. Something about tomorrow's surgery."
Aarohi sighed, knowing that avoiding Rishi Malhotra wasn't an option if it was about work. "Alright, I'll go see what he wants."
Dr. Mehera gave her a teasing wink. "Don't fight too much. Remember, the hospital walls aren't soundproof."
Aarohi rolled her eyes, standing up and gathering her files. "I'll try, but no promises."
As she walked past him, Dr. Mehera called out, "Oh, and Aaru?"
She turned to face him, eyebrow raised in question.
"Just a thought," he said, grinning. "Next time, maybe let the coffee cool a bit before drinking it. We don't need another fire-breathing doctor around here."
Aarohi smirked. "I'll keep that in mind," she replied, but deep down, she knew that was unlikely to happen.
