KELIESE JONES

SANDY SPRINGS APARTMENT COMPLEX
ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Turning her shower off she steps out into her dual sinked bathroom rubbing her bloodshot eyes hard as they began to itch from her stained tears. Aimlessly wandering toward her designated side of the sink as her hands still worked fervently, she let Summer Walker's song "Broken Promises" serenade her. Feeling her tears start up again listening to the lyrics resonate to her current situation.

"And I believed you
You never left me like you did them hoes
On me like you did them
I built you up
And I held you down
I built you up
And I held you, I held you down
You can't tell me
Nothin' 'bout my man
I would never
Take they words against yours"

Although she was the one stepping out on Amari, she couldn't help but feel like Summer made this song specifically for her. It's true, she held him down and she built him up; supporting him and whatever ties he had in the streets. Replaying the earlier events of her and Eli's breakup she hums along, convincing herself that it was him who was to blame.

If he would've just left her alone and not listen to her endless cries, they wouldn't have been able to get that close. Right? She was vulnerable and he was in heat.

She let out a small sigh and shook her head before stepping away from her fogged up mirror. She couldn't stand the sight of herself right now.

Grabbing a microfiber towel from her bathroom closet she began to wrap her curls, ensuring every brown strand is tucked before exiting her connected bathroom and going back to her room.

Thoughts still running wild, she was too caught up in her own guilt and shame to notice the illuminated light against her black bedding. Her phone kept ringing, the sound growing louder and more incessant.

Snapping from her thoughts, her eyes dart over to the phone, hesitantly walking towards it in fear of it being Amari on the other end again. Who knows, he could've been sucking dick to get one more call. Reluctantly reaching for the phone she sighed with relief that it was only her best friend calling.

"Hey Mimi, What's up?"

"Hey K Booooo! What's gwanin sista ?" Mia's voice was cheerful on the other end of the line, a stark contrast to Keliese's somber mood.

Keliese could practically hear Mia's cheerful smile through the phone. It was one of the things she adored most about her best friend, her ability to always be the life of the party unintentionally.
