Back at Stu's house, we were cleaning up, both of us high off the adrenaline. Stu hadn't stopped grinning since we'd left the Becker place. His excitement was infectious, but I kept my cool. I always did.
He flopped onto his couch, sprawling out with that ridiculous grin still plastered on his face. "Dude, that was... beautiful. Poetry in motion."
I smirked, wiping the blade clean. "Yeah, well, it's just getting started. We've got bigger plans."
Sidney. Her name lingered in the back of my mind like a song stuck on repeat. She was the endgame, the one this was all building toward. But right now? Right now, it was just me and Stu.
Stu's eyes flicked toward me again, and I felt that same pull, the same tension I'd been ignoring for weeks. His smile faltered for a second, and when he spoke again, his voice was quieter, more serious than before.
"Y'know, Billy... this thing between us. It's not just the plan, right?"
I looked at him, something cold creeping into my chest. For a moment, I thought about brushing it off, pretending I didn't know what he was talking about. But then... I didn't.
"No," I said slowly, my voice low. "It's not."
There. The truth.
(sorry for the short chapter it was really rushed. The next one will be longer.)
