Days pass. The town is on edge. Casey Becker's death has shaken everyone to their core, and the air around Woodsboro feels different. Heavy. Paranoid. Everyone's looking over their shoulder, wondering who could be next.
Sidney is more distant, but I can tell she's trying to keep things normal. She's always been strong, but there's a vulnerability in her eyes now. She can't shake the fear, even when she's with me. That should make me feel powerful, in control. But lately, it feels more like a ticking time bomb. I can't help but wonder what will happen when she finally realizes the truth.
It's the perfect setup for our finale, but I keep catching myself... caring. Or maybe just pretending that I do. It's all mixed up now—what's real, what's part of the game.
We're at Stu's house again. His parents are out of town, as usual. It's just the two of us. The quiet of the house feels suffocating, like the walls are closing in, pressing us closer together. Stu is pacing, his nervous energy spilling out in every direction. He's like a live wire, crackling with anticipation.
"You ready for tonight?" he asks, his eyes darting to me.
"Yeah," I say. "But you're all over the place, man. You need to focus."
Stu laughs, but there's no humor in it. "I'm focused, alright. Just... can't believe we're finally here. The grand finale. Sidney. All of them. It's gonna be perfect."
I watch him carefully. Stu's excitement is contagious, but there's something else in his eyes—something unstable. He's been spiraling more and more lately, losing control. That's dangerous. We can't afford mistakes now, not when we're this close.
"You better not screw this up," I say, my voice cold.
Stu's grin falters, and for a moment, I see a flash of hurt in his eyes. But then it's gone, replaced by that wild energy again. He moves closer, standing right in front of me, his breath hot on my skin.
"C'mon, Billy," he whispers, his voice low and dangerous. "We're in this together. Always have been."
There's that pull again, that electric current that's been building between us for weeks. I can feel it in the air, thick and heavy, and for a second, I wonder if I should just let it happen. If I should give in to whatever this is between us.
But then I think of Sidney. Of the plan. And I know I can't afford to get distracted.
"Don't get too attached, Stu," I say quietly, pushing him away. "When this is over, things will be different."
Stu's grin returns, but it's strained now. "Yeah... different."
We both know that's a lie.
(kinda short really sorry :( but uhhh I'll come back in the next chapter I'll try at least )
