The Scorpion and the Frog

"A scorpion asks a frog to carry it across a river. The frog hesitates, afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if it did so they would both drown. Considering this, the frog agrees, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog dooming them both."

"Do any of you understand the point of this story" Mr. Antonov asks us

A girl who's name, or new name I should say Chloee raises her hand

"Just like the scorpions, humans possess compulsions that they cannot repress even when it's in their best interest." she states proudly

"That is amazing Chloee, thank you. Just as she said viscous people cannot resist hurting others even when it's not in their best interest, it is just who they are meant to be. People cannot change their nature. They are all the same"

Staring at him sends me spiraling in thought. Is that why we are all here? Is that why they want to fix us because we are scorpions, we're violent and hurt others around us, but I guess that's a good thing here right.

"Sophia? The bell rang" Mr. Antonov says

"What? Oh sorry" I look up at him before getting up and walking out of class. The same class room I have been to everyday for the past 867 days.

"ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS PLEASE MEET IN THE AUDITORIUM FOR A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT"

__________________________

While walking to the auditorium I notice we are all together. Boys and girls, no boundaries, sharing seats.

Something's wrong

"Attention, attention please take your seats quietly and we can get started here." who the hell is that. A face I have never seen before that's not common.

"Welcome everyone to your last assembly." murmurs spread across the room. "You heard that right tomorrow is your graduation. You will all be going home to your family's. We simply are having this meeting to remind you that you are not the monsters that burden your minds, you are talented young assets and all of you will always have a place with Hydra; with us." An applaud springs from the audience till it slowly dies down again

"Now that you are all going home..." the man on the stage almost looks sick having to imagine that
"Your lives aren't going to be the same. The identities you have all made here will stay here. You will go back to your past selves, but with the training we have gifted you with. You were sent here for a reason, and that reason was to be obedient. So go do what you were meant to do. Hide in the shadows, and live in the light."

Holy shit. We're getting the fuck out of here

"Be diligent girls, please wait until your parent is here."
God I hope this is the last time I hear her annoying ass voice.

I just can't wait to go home, at this point anywhere is better than this hell hole.

"Alexis?" I haven't heard that name in almost two and a half years

"Alexis!" Its her

"Lexi! Where are you!" Holy shit

Before I can run to her Mrs. Smith pulls me into her and then holds me by my arms before whispering in my ear "remember you always have a place with us Soph"

Pulling away as quick as I can I search for her. The one person I'm looking for

"Maria!"
