I woke up to a put-out fire with a sleeping Phuong on my shoulder. Oh good, we haven't died yet. What a miracle. Pushed Phuong off my shoulder and woke her up.
"Minh, what the fuck?!" she yelped, wiping the snow off her face. I got up, not answering her, and peeked out the hole in the wall we built. Surprisingly, this thing held up pretty well. I suppose snow beats snow, I won't question it. "Seems the snow has let up a little; we should get going before another storm comes around," I said, digging out the wall with my bare hands. I started to regret giving my gloves to Phuong. After a little while, I was able to take the wall down and step outside, grabbing our bags before leaving. "Hey, wait for me you jerk!" Phuong shouted, running up behind me. I turned back, watching Phuong get closer.
I groaned, "Hurry up, a wasteland isn't going to travel itself."
"I know, just wait up!" she yelled, stopping a few inches away to catch her breath. She glared at me as she adjusted the blanket around her. Oh, right, I'm wearing all the coats, no wonder I was feeling a little hot. I set our bags aside and took off a few layers, giving them to her. She put them on, still holding onto her blanket,
"Thanks."
"It's nothing. I was feeling hot anyway," I said, picking up our bags and setting off with Phuong following behind.
"So what are we going to do now?"
"I thought about it and I've concluded that our next course of action is to wander around until we find something," I explained, adjusting the straps on our bags.
"And then what?"
"I'll think about it later."
"How long is later?"
"Whenever I feel like it."
"***k you."
"Love you too," I said back, continuing our unremarkable journey across a desert - Antarctica version.
We continued walking for god knows how long until a certain leech got 'too tired' to walk anymore. I turned back, seeing that Phuong had doubled over and was currently lying on the icy floor, "Are you finished or is this going to take all day?" I asked, looking down as I was standing beside her.
"Five more minutes," she replied.
I shrugged, crouching down, "Very well, have it your way," I picked her up by the waist and carried her with my arm wrapped around her.
"Hah? Minh put me down!"
"Weren't you the one who was tired earlier?" I shot back, "I'm doing you a favor. You should be grateful."
"Yeah, yeah, thank you or whatever, just put me down!"
"Alright," I dropped her, making her face plant into the snow below. She flipped me off as she got up, shaking off the snow that got in her hair.
"I hate you."
"Same, we finally agree on something," I scoffed.
"Fuck off," she cursed, walking ahead of me. I shrugged, following behind her.
How long have we been walking now? Because it honestly felt like we'd been walking for days, or was it just me? It was probably just me. After walking for another millennium, we finally reached an area with more than just a deathly white wasteland. It was that, but with dead trees. What a twist. As we journeyed through the forest of leafless hollow trees, I felt my stomach growl. I reached inside my bag, pulled out some beef jerky, and started munching on it. Phuong turned around still walking and she asked, "Can I have some?"I shrugged, "Sure," I held out my hand with some beef jerky and she snatched it away, stuffing the whole thing in her mouth. Greedy goblin.
We continued through the forest, which started to look more ominous as we went deeper in. Well, this isn't going to be fun, is it? Suddenly a Monstrous roar echoed through the forest, making the ground shake and the trees sway. "Uh, Minh. What was that?""I don't know, but I don't like it ," I said, grabbing Phuong's hand and making a break for it. We sprinted through the endless trees as the roars got louder. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. There has to be a hiding spot somewhere! "Minh, it's getting closer!" Phuong screamed, squeezing my hand while trying to keep up with me. Another ear-splitting shriek rang through the forest. "It's getting closer!" Fuck, we're so dead, aren't we? As we ran, we came across a large root thing sticking out of the ground. Well, I guess this will do. I made a sharp turn, and Phuong and I disappeared behind it. Just as we hid, the ground shook. Nice an earthquake! Just what I needed! I peeked out to see a giant nightmarish creature with long pointy horns covered in white fur. "What the fuck is that?!" I covered my mouth as the creature snapped its head to look in our direction. Shit. The creature opened its mouth and a deafening roar was shot at us. God damn it!
We're sent flying into the air, Phuong losing her grip on my hand. Oh, for the love of everything! "Phuong!" I shouted holding onto our stuff. I reach out my hand and grab a hold of her arm pulling her in. She holds onto me, screaming Bloody Mary. Jesus Christ shut the fuck up! I barely open my eyes and look around. I couldn't see much, but what I did see was a giant white tree that reached beyond the clouds. Well, isn't that something? Oh, right, we're falling to our doom... fuck! I looked down as we flew past forests and plains. Okay, if we could just land in a forest, I think we'll be okay, just as long as it's not water. My thought was unfinished when I felt.. - Oh fu-. We crashed into the waves and sunk into the depths.
