It had been a very long day at work today. But good thing your boss let you off on an early shift. All you wanted to do was come home, take a shower, and enjoy some ice cream while binge watching movies with your boyfriend, Riley.
As you walked in, you kicked your shoes off and you smelled something, it smelled like maple syrup, with a mix of honey, and you could definitely smell lemon there too.
You walked into your kitchen furrowing your eyebrows, to find Riley standing at the stove with a spatula in his left hand, and a cook book in the right hand that was supported by his forearm, while wearing a white apron, a blue and white striped sweater and ripped jeans. His hair was messy and pushed to the side of his forehead with one of your hair clips. He looked very focused on the dish in front of him sizzling in the pan. You couldn't help but giggle as you spoke, "Are you cooking..?" You asked, as another giggle slipped through your lips, and that's when his head shot around with a gasp. "Baby? Why are you home!? You weren't supposed to be here until until eight-thirty pm... It's currently six-twenty seven pm.." he said as he put the cook book down and threw the apron across the house, and he smiled a bit at you in utter embarrassment. You shook your head as you laughed again, "They let me off early... That smells really um... Good actually!" You giggled and made your way over to the stove to see he was trying to cook pancakes, and lemon bread. You smiled and sat on the counter, "Awe baby, that's really sweet you're cooking us breakfast for dinner!" You said with a big smile on your face,
Riley's smile seemed to fade and you furrowed your eyebrows, "What's wrong?" You asked as you analyzed his face, trying desperately to read is distress and what had caused it. You put your hand on his and gently interlocked your fingers with his, "Tell me Rie..." You whispered and Riley sighed heavily and his lip quivered. It looked like he was having a mental debate with himself. "Remember my... 'special diet' um.. Baby I'm a... I'm a vampire.." Riley said as he took his brown contacts out to reveal his red ones.
You gently grabbed his cold face in your hands looking into his piercing red eyes, as a smile spread across your face, "Oh my god, so you're like my own Dracula, huh?" You said with a smile. You truly didn't care he was a vampire, you never suspected anything because he always wore contacts and some people were just really cold, and you rarely saw him because of your job.
Riley was definitely taken back by your reaction, he nodded with a cheeky grin on his face, just relieved you were not scared of him. "I definitely am, only I'm hotter." Riley said smugly, as he leaned in and placed a kiss to your lips cupping your cheek with his hand. You gladly kissed him back, returning his kiss, as you carefully put your arms around his neck pulling him closer to you locking him in place, and you smiled in the kiss. "Except you're colder, not hotter. And more food for me!" You said as you giggled and hopped off the counter and you smelled smoke, you looked at the stove and saw the pancakes had burned to little black crisps, in the metal grey pan. "No! Not my pancakes!" You screamed, and tried to revive them.
Riley just chuckled and crossed his arms, he definitely was not expecting your reaction, but he was entirely relieved you weren't scared. "Here I'll cook more, my Lovely." Riley mumbled as he placed his hands on your shoulders, as he gently kissed your cheek.
