Hiding, it's what she's best at. She was always the type to blend in the crowd and get lost in the thousands of faceless people around her. She never liked attention, in fact, she strayed from anything that would give her exposure.
The worst of it all?
She was never someone that would easily blend in. In fact, with her beauty and kind heart, Y/N stood out in every crowd no matter how much effort she put into doing just the opposite.
However (un)wanted, she especially couldn't hide from him. Not only did her beauty enthrall him, but her mind is what made him come back for more.
Every time he comes closer, she takes a step back and just as he thinks he's got her figured out, she proves him wrong. But today was different, Riley promised himself as much.
Maybe it's because she allowed his hand to linger on the small of her back for a little too long or the fact she had smiled at him more times he could count, Riley finally felt alive. It's been so long since he could feel anything at all, but with her? He could have sworn his venom filled heart would beat once again. That's the power of her gaze, the touch of her skin, the entrancing smile and glorious giggles, intoxicating scent and sassy comebacks.
When he places his unusually cold finger on her chin, Riley could hear her heart quicken the pace. He made her nervous, he made her feel something she had long forgotten was possible too - a genuine connection in a modernized world where hookup culture had replaced romance.
But as his eyes fall to her lips, she can't help but turn away from him. Even with a great desire to know him, she's still held captive by her insecurities, a scar she isn't too fond of, that makes her question her self-worth far too often for it to be healthy for her confidence.
"Please don't turn away from me." The sweet tone he's using isn't helping ease her guilt over the anguish he seems to be in, but she's hurting too - she has self inflicted wounds on the inside no one truly sees, but Riley doesn't seem to care. He doesn't see her as anything less than perfectly imperfect, a woman worth all the time in the world.
"I'm sorry. It's just...the scar is", and before she has a chance to finish, Riley steps in.
"Beautiful. A part of your history, a map of what you've lived and it doesn't lessen my attraction for you in any way. I'll understand if you're not ready for me to kiss you, but I'd really like to if you'll let me." Looking back at him and his charming smile, Y/N can't stop the flutter inside her chest that his words have caused. She's always feared the scar would make her less desirable, somehow inferior to other women, yet here is a man with so much adoration in his eyes and he doesn't mind it at all. In fact, he likes her - scar and all.
Licking her lips with swelling excitement in her chest, Y/N places her hand at the back of his neck before whispering softly, still worried he might change his mind.
"I'd like that."
Riley didn't need to be told twice, not a doubt in his mind as his lips connect with hers, holding back as much as he can in order not to hurt her, yet holding on tightly enough that she knows he's completely fallen for her and now that he's had a taste? Riley knew he couldn't stay away.
