"Are you sure you put it in there? ""For the tenth time today Mia, yes I did put your toiletry bag along with your spell book in your tote. Even mom checked" Layla, my sister who is only 6 years older than me rolled her eyes frantically at me. Perhaps she's relieved that they are shipping me to Bording school..on my senior year of highschool.
I've always imagined how I'd spend last year in high school. I would h
" if I find that it's not in there after you leave...I will-""Set my loubotins on fire" she completes my threat. Knows me so well.i smirk
" yes I know" she says pulling me in for a hug and roughly running her hand in my hair. Freak. You'd swear she's not 22, and engaged. She still acts like a baby of the family.speaking of baby, I haven't seen mom, pops and Ben in over half an hour. Mom said she and dad are going to the school yards while me and Layla stay in the car and wait for them to call s in. Ben followed behind, or may I say flew. He's still enjoying his first year as a wizard. It's all so new to him, he uses every opportunity to use his powers. I just pray he doesn't set any of his mortal classmates on fire.
"You think they are still performing a protection spell in your dormitory ?" Layla snickers a giggle.
"I hope not" last thing I want is to look like a freak to my roommate.
"Pray that she's not a vamp" another one of Layla's lines that make my scalp itch.she read my mind, her best skill I'm still trying to master. But for the time being, I shield my mind...not all the time. It makes my palms sweat and sometimes turns my face pale.
"What's wrong with vampires?" I asked. Quite a rhetorical question if you ask me. I think the right question to ask is what's not wrong with Vamps, but I wasn't gonna let Layla think I was scared. I worked had to convince them that I'm over the abduction.
"Oh hey look. My charm is glowing. Must be mom telling us to come in" she grinned
"They could use cellphones you know" I sighed, opening the car door and stepping out enduring the cold winter breeze almost turning my blood into solid ice.
"This is not your old high school and town kid" she glanced at me while I rubbed my temples
" I know. That's what scares the shits out of me""You shouldn't be scared, I had a blast when I was here. Some of us spent 5 years of our youth in this big yard. And I have nothing but crazy memories" she snickers. Almost looking like she's reminiscing.
True. Layla has been at Richmond School of the gifted (R.S.G) for a life time she only graduated 4 years ago, and off to College she went. A normal college that is, like the high school I went to, with no one throwing bolts of fire to each other or soaking their clothes in water that appears in thin air and nobody flying off the field instead of running through it.
"Easy for you to say" I say as we walk through the yards of my soon to be home. Shoot me "you dated the hottest water boy, or whatever you call them here"
"Water bender Mia" she scowled.
"Same thing"
Richmond is known for it's industrial revolution era looking building, I'm guessing that their sports field is shaped like the roman pantheon with beams falling off constantly from all the loud cheers from students. Their grass looks like it is fertilized daily by little creatures of Richmond.
Mom met us standing at the doorway leading to the dorms. You can tell by the way dad held her hand that she was about to break one of her famous emotional wreck speeches about how much of a strong woman I've been since 'the saga'.
