Jane had been asking herself a lot of questions about the possible killer since she'd started hanging out with Tara's friends; she told herself that none of them could have hurt the young Carpenter, but she still had some suspicions about Amber, since the young girl was Tara's best friend and the last time there'd been a killer, that person had tried to kill her best friend. Jane was thinking of Jill Roberts, the masked killer, and what she had done to Kirby, proof that friendship doesn't prevent the worst. Jane's instincts told her to be wary of Amber, but she also considered that she might be wrong and that it was someone else.
Chad snapped Jane out of her long thought when he invited her to their table, she joined them with her phone in hand, it began to vibrate and the teenager hurried to check where her new notification could have come from. She looked down at her phone to see that Kirby had sent her a message, smiled as she looked and replied calmly.
Message between Kirby and Jane
KIRBY
Your mum tells me you've gone out to meet the famous Chad, be careful.
JANE
It's not just Chad, there's also his sister and other friends of theirs. I kind of snuck in. They're really nice.
KIRBY
Okay, enjoy :)
End of messages
Jane put her phone in her back pocket and Amber stared at it strangely, which made Jane start to questions things even more, until Amber asked her if she was all right, as she'd seen her mind wandering a bit.
- I think you could say you're part of our group of friends now, but we don't know you well enough. Amber said with a little thought in the back of her head.
- I've got nothing to hide, just ask me anything. Jane was lying a little, there are still things she prefers to hide, like things about her father.
- Give me your phone then! Amber held out her hand to Jane, waiting for her to hand over her phone. And let me look at your call records.
- My call records? Really? Jane was rather surprised by Amber's request.
- Yes! Why do you mind? Amber asked with a big smile on her face, she knew what she was doing.
- No, I don't mind at all. Jane passed her phone to Amber who began to consult Jane's call history. Did you find anything? The blonde was more the type to send messages than to call or receive calls.
- Your call history is sad. Says Amber as she looks. Apart from your mother or that Kirby woman, you don't talk to anyone.
- I don't like phone calls and no one ever calls me, which explains everything. Jane confides.
- Hopefully you won't get a call from you-know-who. Amber laughed, it could happen that Jane might be contacted later. Here, take it back. She hands her back her phone.
- Thanks, Amber. Jane thought about Amber's calm intonation and the way she showed no emotion during their little conversation, it sounded like a threat to her ears. Psst. Jane gave Mindy a little nudge on the shoulder, hoping that she would also notice Amber's strange behaviour, but Amber had completely changed mood before Mindy could see it.
