A week later Aiko dialed Gojo, feeling worse today than usual. It rang and rang until he picked up on the last ring. It was likely the middle of the night but she needed his guidance."Gojo here! Best sensei of all time, greatest sorcerer alive, and devilishly handsome man at your service!" He answered cheerfully.
"I was going to say something respectful to greet you...but I take it back." Aiko groaned.
"What can I help you with?" He asked.
"I just feel like shit today. I'm busting my ass for this dumb exchange event and I just....I don't know my value you the team, Gojo sensei." She admitted. She heard him sigh softly.
"Aiko, you're an amazing prodigy. Sure you aren't running at danger head on, at the frontlines, but you can offer diversions and sneak attacks. You're the support, and support is crucial to every team." Gojo said seriously.
"Thanks... I think. Does it kill you to take people seriously, cause I bet you're dying to crack a joke right now." She grumbled. He giggled on the other end.
"You have no idea." He sang. "I'll spare you, for now at least. I got to go, missions don't solve themselves. Tata!" He said before he hung up.
"Jackass." She muttered to herself.
Aiko got up from her bed only to scream out in pain and drop to her knees clutching her head. Images and flashes of tree branches. It was so painful, she can't take it. Space. Infinite space. It's too much.
"Make it stop.." she whimpered.
She was suddenly warped, more like pulled, into an endless void. She gasped clutching her head as she stumbled around it. Too much information. Her eyes reflected the rainbow static as she struggled to take in just a sliver of it. She was screaming in agony.
Yuji, Gojo, and Jogo watched in shock as this girl found herself inside Gojo's impenetrable domain.
"Aiko?" Yuji asked.
"Make it stop. Please—make it stop." She begged as her nose started dripping blood. "Too—-too much!"
"She shouldn't even be able to walk. Let alone talk." Gojo said grimly. Was this a trick?" He watched in curiosity.
Suddenly she stopped. Raising her head slowly to look at Gojo.
"Another lurks where you cannot see." She spoke softly, then her collapsed.
Aiko woke up gasping, drenched in sweat in her bed. When did she fall asleep? Her head hurt like hell, grabbing her water bottle and chugging it. She staggered out to the common area passing by everyone eating dinner as she rummaged through the cabinets for pain meds.
"You okay Aiko?" Maki asked suspiciously.
"Yeah. I just... don't know when I fell asleep." She mumbled, taking three pills and washing it down before she put the rest back and leaned forward onto the counter breathing.
"Hey." Megumi said placing a hand on her shoulder. She flinched slightly, but relaxed when she saw who it was. "Why don't you eat something?" He said softly, dragging her to the table and sitting her down next to him as Nobara made her a plate of food. She seemed catatonic as she stared at nothing and ate mindlessly.
"Kugisaki. What's wrong with your sister?" Maki whispered harshly.
"She's the holder of Divine Sight. She didn't want to tell anyone other than Gojo, but she came to jujutsu tech with me because she needs his help controlling it. She can see fractions of the future. It just takes a lot out of her, kind of leaves her like a zombie for a bit. If it's too intense it can fracture or even shatter her mind." Nobara explained as she looked at her sister with sympathy.
"Can she hear us?" Panda asked.
"No. She won't remember any of this tomorrow so just... just don't say anything, okay?" Nobara pleaded and they all nodded. "Wanna see something freaky?" She asked and they all nodded again, watching as Nobara rushed to her room.
She came back with a piece of paper, and a pen. She moved the plate and fork away from her, Aiko's hands moving to find what she was looking for without moving her gaze. Nobara placed the pen in her hand and the paper in front of her as Aiko began drawing.
"Trees." Aiko mumbled. It shocked them all. "Pain. Trees.... run away. black flash." She repeated all the words as her hand moved on its own. "Mmm....Megumi." She mumbled, moving the page and scribbling again. The page slipping to the floor but no one dared move, her next drawing strategic and precise. "Maki. Suffering." She locked eyes with Maki and Megumi, a brief but noticeable second before returning to space out and scribble. "M-Megumi. Move." She whispered. He jumped from his seat freaked out, looking around on edge.
"Relax. She can't see the near future. This can be weeks or even months away, maybe even years." Nobara said as she watched her sister.
"I can't take this anymore." Maki said moving to slap Aiko awake.
"I wouldn't." Nobara warned.
Maki didn't listen, swinging her open palm. Aiko caught it, her grip tight making Maki wince. Aiko stood making everyone nervous, until she made Maki sit and placed her palm on the table to face the drawing.
"Maki. Suffering." She repeated as she stood there staring at the picture.
Everyone closed in on the piece of paper. Something was coming out of Megumi's stomach, Maki had a branch shoved into her shoulder. It looked almost like they were in a creek.
"Where's the second one?" Megumi asked, holding Aiko's arm. Nobara looked around the floor before finding it and slamming it down for them to see. It was Inumaki running on a roof. Branches were swarming behind him.
"Well that's not creepy." Panda blurted out.
"Let's test something." Maki said getting up and walking to the opposite side of the table and threw the pen straight for Megumi's forehead. The speed it was going it would've impaled him.
Aiko didn't blink, her arm raising and gripping the pen hard. Megumi sweat at the ballpoint tip, just before his pupil. He didn't dare blink.
"Let's not try anything like that again!" Megumi yelled out, pushing Aiko's hand back down. Then at the yell of his voice, she collapsed backwards. He struggled but caught her before she hit the ground. He hoisted her up, bridal style as he painted looking around. Her head and arm were dangling limp, her nose beginning to drip blood.
"Here I got it." Nobara said wiping it with a napkin. "It happens." It's not that Nobara was embarrased by her sister, but she didn't want anyone to see her in this moment of vulnerability.
