My life, my absolute calm chaos of a life starts on the outskirts of the mountains, a village not too far away from the big city Liyue. Where qingxin flowers swam through the sky like soaring airplanes made from dried petals. It was my hometown, damn right it was. Quigce village, where dreams were made into reality! created by countless and countless years of hard work. Strong men and wise women, united in one.
To be honest, I had lived there for my whole life, following the steps of my father, helping him around the old house that told stories way older than my being. Ancient stories about fierce battles, dragons and the big war that broke years ago. I'd sit by the fireplace playing with my imagination, imagining everything my father told me unfold in front of my eyes. It was incredible and though I was young, I wanted to know all about the world. What was beyond sheep, cows and wheat. I was tired of being a farm boy, I wanted to be a city boy. I had heard of Liyue, the city of Lights, and my father had mentioned the city countless times, burning the beautiful image of the place into my mind. He told me that one day he'd bring me there, that one day I'd be able to see those big bright lights fly across the sky.
I was dying from the excitement, biting a spoonful of my food and jumping off my seat just to escape my home, climb the highest mountain I knew and sit on the top as I watched the fireworks soar through the sky from afar. Pops of color everywhere, blue, green, red, and orange hues sparking so bright. Just like the stories my father had once told me. I wasn't sure when I'd be able to go to the city, but I always wondered how bright the pop of colors were from up close. For others these horrid fireworks were scary and reminded them of the evil dragons who had started the great archon war and therefore forbid the fireworks from ever scoring the skies of Quigce. But to me, I found life in those colors, freedom, reaching my finger further and further against the sky. Thinking that if I just stretched my fingers a little more then I would be able to touch one.
Feel its spark. Could that be possible?
"Kh" a low mutter ran across the bushes and I quickly shuffled, looked back and felt my heart thump. I had gone up these mountains countless times and as far as I could remember, I never encountered any wolves or monsters. So it was weird to hear something other than pedals and trees humming. I was scared of something, something or someone I barely knew.
"Who-who's there!?" I shouted and the bushes shuffled again. It was like a constant shuffle, then a grunt and then another shuffle. I was aware of thieves and the possible problems they caused to my village and nearby villages, but was it possible that maybe one of them had chased me all the way here? Was that really the case? Was there a sick bastard hiding in there!? The idea caused me distress, I grabbed a stick, pointed it at the bushes and stood still.
"Come out—wherever you are!" I shouted again, digging the soles of my sandals harder against the ground, I needed to show them I wasn't scared. I was brave, not capable of being scared. I wasn't going to let anybody hurt me. I couldn't. I knew who I was, I knew how strong I was compared to an adult, but I'd be willing to fight back if it meant protecting my village.
"ug-?" Suddenly a pair of pointy horns popped up from the bushes and immediately my heart raced. "I said—come out!" I cried, and that's when a young boy around my age slipped out and face planted the ground. I was confused, I had never seen a boy with horns in my life. More or less, I had never seen a boy like him here. He wore dirty patted clothes, a bitten apple in his hand and on the other he held his bruised cheek. Was he even human!?
"What are you—"
"Stop!" He argued back and I frowned, it hurt to be shut up like that so quickly. "Is shouting the only thing you know how to do best!?" He shouted again and I was getting anxious. Who was he? Why did he feel the need to stand his ground and act like I was the villain? He scared me! Was that not a good reason alone?
