"Are you going to play on your phone all night or are you going to help me out here?" Lisa snapped as she pulled up to a red light.
"Well," You started to say as you finished putting another song on. "I wasn't playing on my phone, babe. I was just looking for a different song to listen to."
"Well, I don't know which way I'm going so help me. Am I in the correct lane?"
You looked at the directions you put in your notes app to see how to get to your parent's new house and then pointed to the right.
"Yeah, you turn right."
Lisa turned right before turning off her blinker and reaching to take a sip of water from her cup.
"Why are you so moody with me tonight?"
"Because I originally had plans with Jisoo tonight but then you asked to do this so I had to back out on her which I don't like doing."
"Jisoo is always so understanding. I know she wasn't mad." You said and heard Lisa sigh.
"She wasn't. But that doesn't mean I was thrilled about it." She explained and you furrowed your eyebrows a little.
"You didn't want to come along tonight?"
She shook her head.
"My parents adore you, Lili. It's been so long since we've had the chance to see them together and they just moved into a new place. They want us to come visit."
"Whatever, Y/N," She huffed.
"It's just a few hours and dinner with them. The world won't end over us doing this instead of you hanging out with Jisoo, who you hang out with often, by the way. Meanwhile, we haven't seen my parents in a few months. This is important to me and to them. Doesn't that matter to you?"
"I never said that it wasn't. Don't twist my words around like that!" She spoke in frustration.
You looked out the window before looking ahead at the road as you heard a few drops of rain start to fall.
"Great, just great. I hate driving in the rain." She mumbled.
"Fine then I'll drive. Maybe if you get a little rest on the rest of the drive, your mood will improve."
"You're getting on my last nerve." She spoke, clenching her jaw slightly. "Just drop it."
"How can I just drop it when I know you'd rather be anywhere but with me right now? Lisa, it's been so long since we've seen my parents! Could I have come alone? Absolutely. But they adore you and you're so busy that I never know when the next time for us to visit them together will be. Can't you stop acting like this and just try to be happy?"
She pulled the car onto the shoulder of the road before looking at you.
"What am I acting like? Seriously, tell me."
"Selfish!" You snapped. "And grumpy. At this point, if this is how you're going to act, turn around and go home and I'll just come up with some excuse for my parents!"
"I'm being selfish because I didn't want to back out last minute on my best friend? You're the one that wanted to do this and gave me no warning at all! You're being selfish too, Y/N!"
You folded your arms over your chest and blinked a few times to fight back the tears in your eyes.
"Whatever. Just turn around and go home. I don't even want to go now."
She sighed and rolled the window down to get a little fresh air despite the rain still falling.
"No, we're not doing that." She quietly spoke. "We already told your parents we're coming over and we're not backing out on them."
"I'm sorry, okay? Next time I'll just come by myself. I didn't mean to ruin your plans with Jisoo but I don't get to do this very often with you because of your schedule, which I know is only going to get crazier because you and the girls are having a comeback next year, as well as touring. I won't get this chance for a while. But that doesn't matter to you and I see that now."
"That's not what I said, dammit!" She shouted before taking a deep breath. "Y/N,"
She reached over and put her hand on your shoulder.
"Come on, baby. I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry."
You turned to look at her and she gently brushed her hand across your cheek.
"I'm sorry too. You're not selfish. I know I sprung this on you last minute but as I said-"
"I understand, baby. You're not selfish either. I was just upset about cancelling on Jisoo but I know she understands and isn't upset. I shouldn't feel that way. I love seeing your parents and I am excited about this, I promise."
"Me too." You smiled a little and watched her do the same. "I love you. Can we just never fight again? I hate it."
"I hate it too, my love. No more fighting, I promise. Now let's go see your parents."
"Okay."
Lisa watched your eyes light up and she took one of her hands off of the wheel so she could hold onto it as she merged back on the road and resumed driving to your parents' house, hoping that it wouldn't be long before you could do it again together.
She'd start making more time for it for certain; because it's just as important to her as it is to you.
