"I'm going to get a drink. Do you want anything?" You asked Lisa.
"No, baby, I'm good. Thank you though." Lisa replied and watched you get up from your seat beside her to go into the other room for a drink.
You're at a party that one of your friends is hosting tonight and although Lisa wasn't in the mood to party, you really wanted her to come along, so she did.
Your friends are off doing their own thing and since you're in the other room, Lisa is alone with a room full of people she doesn't really know.
So she felt a little uncomfortable.
"Hello." A voice said from behind her.
Lisa turned around to find a girl standing there.
"Hi."
"I'm Alex. What's your name?"
Her words were very slurred so Lisa knew she was drunk and tried to keep her distance.
"Lisa."
"Lisa." The girl repeated. "What a pretty name. For such a pretty girl."
"Look," Lisa nervously said as the girl stepped in front of her. "You're drunk and I'm taken so-"
Before she could even finish her sentence, the girl leaned in and put her lips on Lisa's.
Of course, Lisa didn't kiss her back.
She just pulled away and stared at the stranger in shock and anger.
"What the hell is wrong with you!?"
"If you want more where that came from, I'll be over there."
As she walked away, you came back over to Lisa, and her heart dropped when she saw you frowning.
"Who was that?"
She realized then that you hadn't seen what happened.
You didn't see that girl kiss Lisa.
And Lisa was afraid to tell you, afraid she might lose you over something that she didn't even start or reciprocate.
So... she didn't tell you.
"Uh, some drunk girl just blabbing about whatever. You know what it's like to be super drunk at a party."
"Yeah." You chuckled and took a sip of your drink.
Feeling anxious and a little uncomfortable after what had just occurred, Lisa changed her mind about that drink.
"You know what? I'm going to go grab a drink." Lisa said.
"I thought you didn't want one. If you'd said something, I would've got it for you, babe."
"Oh, it's fine, baby. I'll be right back." She said before kissing your cheek.
You watched her go into the other room while sipping on your drink once more.
"Y/N," One of your friends said as they walked to you.
"Oh, hey! Fun party, huh?"
"Yeah." She replied. "Listen, I need to talk to you about something."
"Oh, okay. What is it?" You asked as you gave her your full attention.
She looked around before looking back at you with sadness in her eyes.
"When you were getting your drink, I saw Lisa kissing someone else."
A sinking feeling washed over you immediately.
"What?"
"I'm so sorry."
"No, you have to be mistaken. She wouldn't do that."
"I know what I saw, Y/N. I saw her kiss another girl. I'm sorry."
She brushed her hand across your shoulder in comfort before walking away just as Lisa came back to your side.
"Do you want to dance?" Lisa asked as a good song came on over the speakers.
"No. I want to go home." You said with your jaw clenched.
Lisa looked at you in confusion because you seemed like you were having such a good time before she left.
And now you seem so angry.
"Okay." She said.
You grabbed her drink and threw both your cups away before storming out to the car.
On the way home, despite initiating conversations, you didn't say a single word to Lisa.
It wasn't until you got home and stormed into the house with Lisa following behind you that you snapped.
"What's going on with you? Did something happen at the party?"
"You tell me, Lisa!" You said as you folded your arms over your chest.
Thinking back to the kiss, she tried to brush it off again and hide it from you as a rush of discomfort came over her.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh, save it! You know damn well what I'm talking about. You cheated on me! You kissed someone at the party!"
"What?"
"Lisa," You warned. "Just tell me the truth."
"How did you find out?"
"Oh, so it's true!"
"Yes! No, I mean," She paused with a sigh. "It's not what you think."
"Sure." You scoffed.
"No, Y/N, I'm serious. Please." She pleaded as tears filled her eyes.
The situation was serious and scary and Lisa hadn't ever felt so anxious or angry in her life.
She was angry with that stranger that kissed her because now, thanks to her drunken stupidity, she might lose you.
"I swear on my life, I did not kiss anyone else."
"But my friend said-"
"Y/N, hear me out." She said and grabbed your hand, leading you over to the sofa.
You hesitantly sat down beside her and listened.
"I'm not going to lie to you. I was kissed tonight. But I swear, I did not kiss them back. They were drunk. I didn't want to be kissed and I pushed them away immediately!"
She sniffled as she clutched your hands with her shaky ones.
"I didn't want them to kiss me, they just did. It was unexpected and gross and trust me, I'm angry about it too."
"You swear you're being honest with me?"
"I wouldn't lie to you, not about something like this. I swear it." She said. "I did hide it from you at first because I was so scared you'd find out and not hear me out and I'd lose you. I should've told you. I'm so sorry I didn't, I'm so very sorry for that."
You looked away from her with a sigh before looking back at her.
"I'm not lying. Please believe me."
"I do."
She hadn't ever felt more relieved than she did in that moment.
"Thank you."
"But, baby, if something like this ever happens again, tell me right away. So it won't cause any problems and also, so I can kick some ass."
She laughed before throwing her arms around you.
"Okay. I love you so much." She said as she squeezed you tight.
"I love you too, baby. Don't worry, everything's fine now."
She nodded as she buried her face in the crook of your neck, grateful that you believed her.
