Long chapter, yall lovers better take a note.
—-Today was Yoko's off day. Faye had woken up earlier than usual, her mind spinning with plans for their day together. She could still barely believe that Yoko had agreed to go out with her, though not without the typical Yoko flair. When Faye had suggested they spend the day together, Yoko had rolled her eyes and sighed. "Fine. But you better pay for everything I want," she said with a dismissive wave, as though she were doing Faye a favor.
That had been enough for Faye. The thrill of just being able to spend time with Yoko had sent her on a whirlwind of errands that morning. First, she picked up Yoko's new Dior dress, running her fingers over the luxurious fabric to make sure everything was perfect. Then, she stopped by the florist to pick up fresh sunflowers. Faye had never really been a flower person, but sunflowers reminded her of Yoko—vibrant, bold, and standing out among everything else. When the florist had offered to wrap them, Faye had hesitated. "Can I do it myself?" she asked, biting her lip in embarrassment. She wanted it to be personal, imperfect maybe, but hers.
After she finished, she even scribbled a small card, though she didn't sign it, feeling too shy to make her feelings explicit. By the time she drove to Yoko's penthouse, she was already feeling jittery, her palms sweaty. She set the dress on Yoko's bed and waited outside, pacing and smoking a cigarette, feeling the nerves tighten her chest. When Yoko finally emerged from the building, fresh from a shower and looking breathtakingly beautiful in the dress Faye had picked for her, Faye felt a jolt run through her body. Yoko was stunning, every inch of her exuding elegance, and Faye's breath hitched.
"Here," Faye said awkwardly, her hand trembling as she handed the bouquet to Yoko.
Yoko stared at the flowers, her expression unreadable. "I wrapped them myself," Faye mumbled nervously, watching Yoko's face for any reaction. "Do you like it?"
"No," Yoko said flatly, her eyes cold as ice.
For a moment, it felt like Faye's world had stopped. The sting of Yoko's words hit hard, and she could feel her confidence deflating, her hand slowly lowering. Had she completely misjudged this? Was this a mistake?
But then, in a voice so soft it was almost lost in the wind, Yoko added, "I love it." She turned away quickly, biting her lip to hide the small smile that was creeping onto her face, leaving Faye standing there, utterly dumbfounded but grinning like an idiot.
That small crack in Yoko's icy demeanor was all Faye needed. Her heart swelled with a giddy kind of happiness, and she rushed to catch up. "Can I... can I hold your hand?" Faye asked, the question slipping out before she could stop herself. It was such a small, innocent request, but for Faye, it felt monumental.
"No, you can't," Yoko said, voice sharp, but before Faye could feel the sting of rejection, Yoko extended her hand toward her.
Faye couldn't help but laugh softly, her joy bubbling over as she took Yoko's hand in hers, the warmth of Yoko's skin sending a thrill through her. They walked side by side, Faye barely able to contain the smile that tugged at her lips as she swayed their hands playfully.
Opening the car door for Yoko, Faye's eyes sparkled as she took in how the dress hugged Yoko perfectly. "You look beautiful," she said, voice full of sincerity.
Yoko was used to compliments. They came at her from every direction, but there was something different in Faye's voice. It wasn't just a line; it wasn't empty flattery. It was real, and that made it dangerous. Yoko glanced at Faye, her heart giving the slightest, most imperceptible flutter, but she quickly turned away, dismissing it. "Where are we going?" she asked, trying to sound indifferent, though her curiosity was piqued.
