Federico's POV

I walked down the prison hallways at a slow pace. Every inmate I walked past bowed their head at me in respect.

"Nos veremos afuera, jefe."
(We’ll see you outside, boss.) They chanted so I placed a fist over my heart as a sign of acknowledgment.

"Siempre a la orden, jefe."
(Always at your service, boss.)

I stopped in the center of the hallway and their chanting slowly faded out.

"Hermanos, me voy, pero no olvidaré lo que hemos compartido aquí. Que sigan fuertes."
(Brothers, I’m leaving, but I won’t forget what we’ve shared here. Stay strong.) I told them with a grim expression on my face. In response they all pushed their shoulders back before standing together.

"Nos veremos afuera, jefe. Siempre a la orden, jefe." They started chanting again until I made my way out of the building.

Once I reached the admin building they gave me my belongings back. I entered a small room and quickly got dressed into the hoodie and sweat pants that I was wearing when I got here.

Five years have gone by.
And now I'm a free man again. I'm going home.

I walked outside of the prison, and it took my eyes a few minutes to adjust to the sunlight. I breathed in the fresh air that was suddenly all around me. You really don't know what you have until it's gone. All of this- being outside has been gone for me for five years.

I haven't seen my daughter in five years.

"Safe travels, boss!" A warden yelled at me while he opened the gate for me so I gave him an army salute before I walked through the gates.

I spotted a beautiful 1969 black Ford Mustang parked across the road. The door to the car slowly opened and revealed my mom. A broad smile crossed my lips before I jogged over to her.

"Mijo!" She cried out so I opened my arms to her and she pulled me into a tight hug. "Oh my beautiful son. I've missed you so much." My mom whispered into my shirt so, I lightly tapped her on the back.

"I missed you too, mom." I smiled down at her before I looked at the car behind her.

"Nice wheels but since when do you drive?" I asked her in confusion and she smiled at me.

"Well I don't. It's for you." She dangled the key in front of my face and I laughed at her words before I grabbed the keys from her.

I jumped into the car before turning the key in the ignition and my mom smiled at me before she climbed into the passenger seat.

"Where do you want to go?"

"To see my daughter." I blankly told my mom and she uncomfortably shifted in her seat. "What does she look like do you have any pictures of her?" I asked my mom and she sighed lightly.

"I don't. Look, Fede-- a lot has changed since you left." She softly told me. "And with your dad passing away." She added.

That was two years ago. She was safe when he was still alive. I realized that as soon as he was gone.

"I know." I told her and she nodded at me.

"The business went to the Morales family. Jose and Vicente took everything- they became the bosses of our mafia. They kicked me out of the house like a dog. Luckily I still had money left in the bank so, I survived. I mean I was able to keep Camreigh safe." My mom told me so I harshly gripped the steering wheel in my hand.

"They did that to you?" I asked her, anger lacing my every word and she nodded at me.

"But that's not all. Jose went to jail shortly after your father passed away, leaving Vicente in charge. And Vicente disappeared two months. Everyone is still talking about it. And I heard that Kelly went back to Bulgaria. Fede- that means that Nevaeh and Carmella has no one left." My mom told me so I frowned at her.

"Don't we have security, mom? Why didn't you protect them like I told you to?" I angrily asked her and she tiredly ran a hand over her face.

"She forbade me from seeing them, Federico!" She replied in her defense.

"She forbade you? Nevaeh?" I scoffed in disbelief. "Give me their address." I demanded and my mom looked at me in shock. "Now, mom." I clenched my jaw and she immediately gave me their address.

If anything happened to them, God knows I will start up a war against those who harmed them.
